Currys charges for installlation - query

friend bougth Freesat system from Currys - paid £63.99 for installation!!

fitter turned up yesterday and said he wanted another £40 as he has to put dish on a pole? due to signal -

she is not prepared to pay

too right - curry customer service arnt helping

i have looked through currys t & c online - nothing about installing dishes so can assume they sub contract

i reckon they have to fit it and cannot charge the extra

anyone have other info

would that have made a difference to the signal:-D

Google 'currys freesat installation' or similar and you'll find 1000's of stories about their shenanigans with Freesat. I think you'll find their T's & C's will state the upfront charge covers a 'standard installation', a pole is non-standard and they will therefore charge more. They're sods for that kind of thing, but it's perfectly legal to do so.

The moral of the story, never go though a high street retailer for anything like that, always go direct to a specialist who will come and give you a price for exactly what needs doing and more than likely do a much better job too. :thumbsup:
