Hi, well I purchased a tv from currys for £320 feb 2010 online. The tv has just broken down. When I checked to confirm tv was still under warranty I noticed I had been charged £380.The receipt didn`t state the price it was only when I clicked on the HTLM link that the price appeared.I am 100% about the price
Anyway rang up and was told it was to late to get a refund for the overcharge. Is this true?
Is this even allowed? Is this legal?
I dont want to make a fool off myself so any advice would be helpful thanks

Ask trading standards. They will be best to advise cause of action.

The receipt would have the price on it, the delivery note wouldn't have. Did you not check when you handed over the cash or checked the chip and pin machine?

So you bought a TV nearly a year ago, and you are disputing the price.

What proof do you have?

How are you able to prove they overcharged you?

It would be up to you to PROVE that you have been overcharged. Leaving it for a year certainly wouldnt help you.

An option is to write to head office and see whether they can tell you what it was listed for in February 2010.

You are way too late to dispute the price.

It might be a different story if they could actually prove it.

Could possibly look for a cached version of the page from around that time for price verification. They should have the price changes logged on their system to be honest.

DSG are considered a pain by most.

What model was the TV?

So your credit card bill states £380 which is what you must have agreed and hit the confirmation button to purchase. Cant see Currys helping on this one TBH.

I`m 100% positive of the price my sister purchased the same tv that week.

You still need to prove it.

Under the Limitation Act 1980 it should be 6 years. You would, subject to proving this, also be entitled to interest on the balance that was overcharged.

just think of it from currys point of view, why would they go through all thier backlog of data just to check the price in feb 2010 just so they could give you a refund what is thier gain in that? we all know how fantastic currys customer service is and there is no chance you will get your money back with no proof company like John lewis then its complete different story. why dont you just ask for £380 worth of vouchers instead of having your tv replaced?
