Currys vs. John Lewis

Hi, I am going to buy quite expensive lens. Basically almost everywhere there is a same price for it, however at Currys I can get extra Nectar points via eShops. Do you think I should go and buy it in Currys (same price, but extra points) or other stores like John Lewis, were there is better customer service?

The " John Lewis " better customer service is a myth.

It may have been true in the past, but these days their customer service is dire.

John Lewis any day of the week.
in my experience the customer service at John Lewis is second to none, especially if there is a problem at any time.

A couple of years ago, I would have agreed with you, but their customer service has nose dived in recent times, see my post above for evidence.
Thnanks. So then I will go for Currys, where at least I will get extra £12 on nectar points.
I would go nowhere near Currys personally. **** customer service if anything goes wrong.
Have you tried looking at proper camera suppliers at camerapricebuster or london camera exchange , rather than a multiple you can get good deals
Have you tried elsewhere though one of the cashback sites?

Prefer JL over Currys
I wouldn't go near Currys with a 10ft barge pole.
The price is almost the same everywhere - camerapricebuster.co.uk/Nik…ens
I would like to pay with my AMEX to take advantage of their spend £2000 in first 3 months offer - so in this case only JL or Currys is condsidered
Currys are poor when things go wrong. Ask john Lewis re extra years warranty.
seriously...12quid is the major deciding factor in buying a 1200quid lens?
looser

But not as bad as John Lewis. ( see supporting evidence from their customers at post #1 )
I'm sorry, but saying Currys is better customer service than John Lewis, is extremely laughable.

In my personal experience they are.

Currys seems to have improved in recent times, whereas, JL have rapidly lost focus on customer care.
Have currys still got the save £100 on £1000 spend? Saw it on o2 priority earlier. Also as far as currys are concerned, in store I've had dire experiences but a few letters after a problem occurred I had a better outcome than I ever could have hoped for.
I was shocked to read that link to John Lewis' feedback. My family having shopped at their stores for more 40 years before I was even born! I usually buy from John Lewis but I've had really good deals from independent camera dealers such Harrison Cameras.

better than amazon?

Totally agree - amazon's customer service is almost faultness - or well has been for me - never had any issues with them returning/refunding etc. when stuff hasn't been upto my expectations.
at the end I bought trought topcashback at wex photographic. Got £25 cashback, so much better than the nectar points :-)

Could you not have used the o2 priority discount I mentioned? £100 off a £1000 spend at currys?
sorry but I haven't seen this. shame on me

You have avoided using Currys so you will be better off in the long term!
well, anyway this is quite good deal. original price £1235, and then £25 cashback from TCB, £175 cashback from Nikon, £112 cashback from AMEX.
