Curry's whatever happens - replacement of equivalent specification...

    Hey everyone,

Does anyone know how far this policy goes to match your equivalent specification?

I have an 32LG7000, which has Bluetooth. My TV has just lost about 100+ pixels in three lines and they are going to pick it up tomorrow.

Should it be written off, from what I understand (from the policy and past experience), I should be given a credit note/vouchers to purchase a like for like model.

Now based on that, I bought the above TV, because of it's Bluetooth functionality. Looking at Curry's website, there are only two other bluetooth TV's, both of which larger and almost 3x what I paid for my TV.

Does this mean they'll cough up for the equivalent model, or will they provide me something different?

    Any ideas?

    Cheers

Cant you use bluetooth via a dongle + usb port on new tv's ?

Looking around the t'internet, there isn't much mentioned about using a bluetooth dongle inside the USB port of a TV. It's not something I've heard of before though.

Very true @Boothy. Based on what I've experienced in the past and what I was informed when buying it, was that due to the lack of bluetooth enabled tv's on the market, I was pretty much guaranteed to get a 37 inch + model.

teh tv will probley be repaired, i work in the workshop where the tvs area repaired and if t is lines on screen or a pixel issue then its prob just nees a new screen or mbd, if we can not get the pars needed to repair the tv then we will wright off the tv and will send you a vouchers to the value to buy a tv in store, most of the time they will not bump the price becuase it has bluetooth, they will lok at the main things like size speakers and make if yo do use the bluetooth fuction alot it is probley best when u get the vouchers check the tv that they have listed online to see if it does bluetooh is it does not then complain and say that you use the bluetooth function to copy your pictures to the tv, but you mite have a fight on ya hands if you ask me but it will more that likely be fixed

Hope you can repair tv's better than you can spell

pretty much agree, if you use the bluetooth function a lot, you can ask instore for them to bump up the cost of the voucher and the store will then have to justify the price difference later. if the price difference is massive and head office don't agree that the bump up was justified, the store are charged the difference from their profits.

if the only tvs with bluetooth on are much much bigger in size, its gonna be a very hard justification.
i do remember the LGs you have and wondering how WEH would cope with a replacement.
one of the guys I work with bought a 37" Pioneer LCD originally costing £1400 for £299 in the clearance sale. I'd like to see them replace that under WEH!!!

My ex's brother works, or worked for Currys and he purchased a vast number of items at 10-40% of their retail value, due to a cable being missing or something stupid. He then took out WEH and was able to claim against the full retail value cost.

Their T&C's doesn't suggest providing a product of alternative specification, infact it simply says they will replace it with a equivalent specification, or replace with a reconditioned product.

If they can find a reconditioned unit, great, if they can fix it better. If not, I will expect to get a tv with Bluetooth functionality.

if the only part of the equivalent spec not met is bluetooth and the only bluetooth enabled TVs are say 46" or bigger for example, you've not got much chance.
will be happy if am proved wrong cos it means they are sticking to their T&C instead of trying to wriggle out of it.
the firm got such a bitchslapping on TV from Dom this past week. had loads of customers reference it and refuse to take WEH.

I had a 47" lg 3d tv an sent it In to get repaired. Anyway iv now been told they have fixed it but can't send it out as they have lost it ? So how much will they give me in vouchers as I paid about £1000 at the time
