    CYCLE / BIKE STUFF

Getting into more regular cycling so need some stuff because I want to keep up, cycling to work etc.

Popped into Halfords tonight. Need helmet, lights etc. They had 1 adult helmet to chose from, the bike lights looked like I could have got them from Poundstretcher (for considerably less). Totally useless.

Anybody know any good bike equipment sites ?

And recommend good quality lights that clip on and off the bike easily

Hi! I also have got into cycling recently. Week past Sunday we all done the Glasgow Sky Ride thingy and omg my bum still sore X). My son is now cycling down to his grandparents - 6 mile round trip - and he is loving it.

Anyway, we went into our local Go Outdoors store and Halfords, tried on their helmets and I took note of ones we all liked - and got them half price on ebay.

I dont plan to cycle at night so cant recommend anything else am afraid.

yes! all arrived still in the boxes and exact same as we chose in the shops.

Just go to your local Halfords or Go Outdoors then when you know names of helmets that you want - ebay it!

one helmet? we have like 20-30 in our store. countless lights too. But if you want to buy online, chainreaction.com are good

Yea il back up shanecr, chainreaction are brill.

Always best to pop into a bike shop and have a scout about though.
Then you can sheck if ya can get it cheaper.
If its a small independent shop, they usually have some decent deals as well.

Bossyboots, did you never go into Dales, i remember they were always good, albeit a bit pricey.

Where do ya stay, anywhere near Milton of Campsie?
I stay kirkintilloch and theres a great wee shop up there in the hills lol
Used to hang about up there near all the time when i was a mountain biker, probly cos i broke, and therefore had to buy so much stuff lol
Components like gear changers he used to buy cheap in bulk from god knows where and flog them off dirt cheap.
Got a 2nd hand Hope XC4 (hydraulic disc brake) with a front wheel for £100 together hardly used, the brake itself was about £150/160 if i remember, this was about 10 years ago so hydraulic discs werent that old so hella expensive.
Thats how i got my hella expensive bike built up, little bits and bobs and i know hes still there i just gave up biking long ago lol

wiggle, chainreaction, evans (only with codes), dales

Many thanks for all the help guys.

One last thing. Daughters bike was stolen a few months ago, had a lock on it. Taken from a railway station, CCTV but nobody interested.

Someone has mentioned a bike lock to me that guarantees cannot be broken, in fact they replace the bike if it is stolen using their lock. Is this a myth ?
