    Cycling

Thinking of doing some cycling to get fit. I saw Lidl have offers on some clothing this week. Can anyone recommend it? I know its cheap but probably the best option for starting out? Or does anyone know where there are other better options?

Lidl & Aldi offer some great kit at a good price

I'm not too sure about kit, but a more expensive helmet doesn't really mean much. Even the cheapest helmets still have to comply by the law and be safe, may not look as good but they will do the job as good as anything.

have some aldi and lidl cycling wear and its not bad stuff. can't really say how they compare to other branded wear but dhb shorts from wiggle are highly rated for price.

@OP I've done the same - just bought myself a secondhand Kona Hybrid (that needed a lot of servicing/degunking) - money/finance is restricted yes I can use it but damn I can't go to the shops as no cycle lock yet (one on order from fleabay)

If you are starting out from scratch to see if you want to take up this excellent form of exercise then lidl & aldi have some basic gear which will suit most beginners

Others on here (including the pro-cycling brigade) will expect you to spend £500+ on a "decent bike" and don't waste your "hard earned money" on "cheap tack that is not made for the job"

I'd sooner encourage someone to spend little - most bike purchases end up stored in the garden shed or garage after 3 or 4 rides

Decathalon have a Rockrider 300 @ £120 approx (I believe but not had official confirmation that the Rockrider 300 is renamed from Rockrider 5.0

Also search around for other needs like security/helmet etc (my d lock + 4ft cable lock was £6.99 on fleabay)
