Found 22nd Jan 2011
I sold a item on eBay and the buyer states that when it was received the item was damaged. The item I sold is pottery and was fine when I posted it in a well secure box.
Can I claim from Royal Mail?
The buyer also states that they will take the item to a charity shop but they want a refund, ahh!! Any tips?
Thanks

am i the only one that finds that hard to read?

Depends how it was sent whether you can claim i think.

would ask for pics for proof otherwise he may be a scam

your words are also damaged.can you fix them plz

Get them to email pics of the damage and packing to you first.
Then you can claim up to the cost of 100 first class stamps

what on earth is tizz?

Did you take pictures of the item before sending?
I.e - In perfect condition and then all wrapped up and secure?
If not don't worry but like others have stated ask for proof of damage!xx

they will have to send the item back to you first before they are entitled to a refund DO NOT refund until you have the item back

maybe the buyer is trying to get a freebie

good good, hopefully you'll get what you want

Get proof, check pics, claim from Royal Mail......simples.

As above,Ask them to Attach a couple of photos of the item & send the photos to your email address. If you want the item returned then you don't have to refund postage,But a good decent seller would refund postage because it's not the buyers fault the item was damaged & so should not be out of pocket.

I'd ask them for photos, then get them to return the item to you by trackable delivery and refund them. I'd also be wondering why on earth they'd be giving a broken pottery item to a charity shop rather than just binning it !

I had a buyer asking for a refund as the item was broken, I asked for photos and they never replied...

THIS IS A COPY OF THEIR E MAIL TO ME -
Hello
We received the money box today – and although we can see that you put extra packing around the money box- we are disappointed that it has a crack in it from the top to the bottom on one side. Therefore we cannot use this as a gift as originally intended and now have no other use for it so will be donating it to a local charity.

We have not left negative feedback on e-bay but felt you should know so that if further fragile gifts are posted that extra packing will be needed. We would appreciate a refund of the price we paid and are willing to return it to you if you refund us the return postage too.

Your comments would be appreciated

Regards

THIS IS THERE MESSAGE , TEXT NOT AS NORMAL , AND WHY GO JUST TO MY EMAIL AND NOT COPY TO E BAY ACCOUNT ???

it sounds horrible, but ignore them.
If they raise a claim through paypal, then they will have to send it back to you via trackable post at their own cost to be entitled to a refund.

Until this happens you dont need to do anything.

thanks all for comments , much appreciated

Hiya,
Have they replied? Have they sent any photos? Why would they donate it to a charity shop if it's broken and unusuable?!
