Damaged Mobile Without Insurance - 3 Cost?

Hoping someone with experience in this may be able to give an answer. My wife just damaged her iphone 6. Screen is shattered. She does not have insurance on it and is on the 3 network. Can anyone give any indication of cost for replacement through the network? Do they charge full handset price or is there a flat charge? She is absolutely devastated and I'd like to put her mind at ease.

    Many thanks in advance.

no problem unfortunately I am fairly clumsy ;-(

Also house insurance, some credit cards have 90 days insurance...

Most independent mobile phone shops (not the big named ones) do these repairs from around £30+

Thanks everyone. Given me some things to think about.

wasn't there an article about having the iPhone screen changed by a non apple service centre voided your warranty or something?

This is why phone cases were created. Mine got damaged and I went through the bank. £50 excess fee cos it's apple. If it was android would be £25

I paid £50 for my iPhone 6 screen replacing last week at a local mobile phone shop. You can get the part off ebay for £23 if you fancy having a go yourself. Theres plenty of videos showing how its done on youtube. I just don't have steady hands so did not fancy it.

If you want apple to do it it will cost you £126.

They probably nip out the back to a corner shop and trouser the 100 notes. Easy money.

Just a case of bad luck here. Phone is in a case with a screen protector on. My son dropped his tablet and it landed on the only part of the screen not covered (right under the home button). It has shattered the screen under the screen protector. The screen protector is undamaged! Can't believe it.

Can you tell me if any of them have had any issues? Like adhkarzf said I'm also sure i read an article where Apple were blocking or maybe barring phones that had screens replaced without going through Apple or network providers.

Hi, I did the same - was very nervous but it works perfectly and looks like new. Got a kit off ebay for about a fiver.

They backtracked and released an update.

If you replace the screen then make sure you use the old home button as if you use a new one the fingerprint function won't work.

I've not had any problems as of yet.

You'll be able to get it fixed for about £50 quid, cheaper than an excess on insurance.

Get the whole lcd screen rather than just the digitizer. Simple how to videos on youtube.

Be careful when heating the adhesive up near the home button, Just a little heat is enough, Otherwise the fingerprint function might not work.

Just looking at the phone it seems that it's only the glass that is cracked. Should I still replace the whole sceen? Also, if I replace only the glass screen will this affect the force touch? As in do I need a screen that is specific to the 6S? Thanks again.

house insurance may cover it as well

Yes because the lcd is glued to the digitizer, very difficult to separate, If it is an iphone 6S then you will need an iphone 6S screen, I assume force touch would still work fine.
