Don't waste your money as they are a con. …Don't waste your money as they are a con. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuoKhF31hL8https://www.heritage-house.org/damp-and-condensation/the-ping-prong-meter-guilty-of-fraud.htmlhttp://buildingdefectanalysis.co.uk/damp/the-damp-industry-con-the-con-surrounding-the-damp-industry-con/http://gsquaredsurveying.co.uk/damp-meters-industry-con/

As above they are only used by conmen to leach money out of the unwary.

I bought one just to find out what the surveyors were up to when I was selling my house a couple of years ago. They were finding damp up to 70% even though there was no trace of any. I tested a second floor room of my three story house and found damp! It was condensation. I'd say the majority of damp in houses is really only that - condensation. My house sold after pointing out the facts to the next surveyor.

The damp expert they used on a consumer programme investigating dodgy purveyors of damp proofing some years ago used a device like this and a drill as I recall:-

I want to use it on my walls lol to get roughly indication, and it will only be one of thing so looking for cheap one that I can give or throw away after. As I probably won't need it afterwards or find it if stored away.

Did you pay £530 for both? My quotes for building survey are coming to upwards of £800
Yes that was for both or it was £235 for valuation or £520 for honey buyers survey and valuation

I’m With Ybs and I was going to pay for one separate but in completing the mortgage the option was there to use there surveying service so rather than do it separate with another company I did it with them and paid £520 cash

If you getting ask them if they do a home buyers survey as well
As there valuation it may save you money

Looking online other company’s wanted £400 + just for home buyer survey alone without a valuation
