DANGER SUZUKI GSXR 1000 K5 K6 frame breakage safety recall now official

Just got the dreaded letter in today, recall on the gsxr's k5 k6 models.
Everyone has known about this for over a year but suzuki kept denying it lol.
Wait till the better weather then a trip to the dealer.
Hate dealers going near my pride and joy too.

The thing is who trusts the local dealers to strip a bike down to its frame and rebuild it as it was,I think once it was done it would have to be sold,

Would rather get the brace from them myself and do it myself, would do a better job.
Had a horn fall off after a dealer service a swingarm locknut fly off after they checked the torque and the mate has had a front disk warp after a dealer changed his pads lol.
Not all the people that work in dealers are bad, one of the workers in my dealer is awesome but you are not guaranteed that he will do the work on it, could end up giving it to some monkey.

Aye they sell a race track bike and then say you shouldn't lift the front end lol.

Could have been deadly, if a car has probs after a dealer at least you have a fighting chance.
I had a dealer spray brake grease onto pads through the gap instead of taking them out during a service ruined my new ebc's had to replace them.
    I could go on....

Don't think I'll be taking mine back to dealer.

The two problems here are (1) who is going to trust a local dealer to do this kind of work when they can barely manage to change the oil and (2) this basically makes these bikes zero value. Who would buy one? Suzuki may either have to change each frame or compensate us for the difference between what we would have got and what we do get which could be several thousand pounds. No wonder they have kept quiet! Their welders are obviously not up to the job c.f. the Hayabusa a few years ago.

Need to start some sort of online petition.
Will seriously devalue my bike after this safety recall, not a happy customer.
Next bike will be a honda me thinks.
    Suzuki take note,

has anyone actually had there frame done yet? can someone let me know if it looks ok if they have had it done? not sure i wanna.

    +1

Would love to see the results, also work in progress if possible, pictures of stripdown etc.

i would like to see pics too. doesn't sound like many people are wanting to get it done tho. not sure i wanna take the risk of them saying i need a new frame and making a mess of it.

Called them today the freefone number on the letter and expressed my concerns regarding the work that would be done in a dealer as I don't trust my local dealers.
Nice enough guy I dealt with the only thing is the guy didn't agree that the bike would have been devalued with the release of this recall letter.
I mean seriously who's going to pay full whack for a k5 k6 now knowing that there is a defect on the frames lol.

i had mine done in 08 it is fine i am looking forward to getting my knee down this summer
i crashed it in 07 (broke my leg ) but on inspection there were no cracks in the frame my gixxer is still awsome

The thing is my Suzuki gsxr 1000 k8 is outside the UK, what shall I do to get it upgraded bear in mind it's not easy bringing the bike back to the UK, I still own the bike abroad and I am wondering what to do. Any help would be appreciated.
