    Data Storage

I'm looking for something to plug into my laptop and for me to basically take a copy of my hard drive just in case it crashes or I delete something.

I presume I need an external hard drive do I?

    Any recommendations please?

You need to decide if you want a 2.5" external drive (much smaller, doesn't need a seperate power adapter, but more expensive per GB) or a 3.5" drive (bigger, less portable, has its own mains adapter, but cheaper per GB)... How big (and full) is your current drive?

Yeah ya can get an external hard drive that will allow you to connect to your laptop via USB try.. ebuyer.com/spe…d=2

Depends how much there is stored on the HDD. I know some peoples laptops hard drives I could fit all there documents and files (not windows files) on an 8gb usb stick!

If your on Windows XP, go to 'My Computer' right click on the hard drive and click 'Properties'

Then you will need a decent backup software like Acronis True Image which allows you to restore the system to different hardware in case you laptop crashes completely.
Find and download Hiren Boot CD from internet on your own risk as it contains many hacked software including Acronis.

i would recon 250gb is large enough as i have never encounter any laptop HDD larger than that
