Day off work - don't often get to see this..

Due to working, i very rarely get to spend proper quality time with my son.. Half hour in the morning and then an hour or so before he goes off to bed, and thats more just the dinner, bath and bed jobs.

Yeah sure on weekends, but you end up doing things you didnt have time to do in the week.

So i've got work off today and tomorrow, and it's been ace (hes having his afternoon nap at the mo) :). See below.

    - And yes, jermery kyle is fantastic. IM GONNA DRAW A LINE IN THE SAND!!!!!!!

Ah very cute - I Know what you mean though - I see very little of mine as I leave for work before they are awake and only see them for a bit in the evening - I just try and make up for it at weekend and when i can

Cute kid, I would hate to be in that situation when I have kids. But obviously it happens, and has to happen as need to earn money as well.

Weekends are always just manic, so its nice having the day off.. Wife been out today and is tomorrow, so it's just me and the lad.

Anyone else find the second picture slightly ironic? (Hint - Look at the tv)

I thought they meant they didn't often get to watch Jeremy Kyle because they work :whistling:

know how u feel mate. ive worked away best part of 2 years of my little lads life. been coming home every night for around 8 months now and just hope that continues for a while longer.

still im sure a week of being @ home everyday with him ud soon be wanting to go back to work!! i know i wud...!!!!

My husband has just been put in this position. He's been 'moved' to a job over an hour's commute away, and told to be grateful he has a job at all. When we started having babies he had a great job two miles down the road, to which he went on his bike. He left at ten to eight, and got back at ten past four. Now he leaves at 6.30 and get's home in time to see the kids clean their teeth and go to bed. It's really sucking, and getting both of us down. It's normal for a lot of people, but not what were used to at all, and it's making us row even more, which isn't helping. He's desperately trying to get a job closer to home, doing ANYTHING, but there's nothing around. He's been given the heads up for a position exaclty the same 15 miles from home, but with no van - so he's considering taking that and cycling there. It's still take over an hour at a guess, but he'd be closed in the event we 'needed' him, or I could pick him up and drop him off sometimes.

It sucks he doesn't see his kids at all anymore. It sucks we row because of it. But today's his last day for Easter Holidays, so at 7pm tonight, I'll be loading the kids in the car while he grabs a shower, then driving down to the seaside for some proper quality time as a family. A tenner says we're each threatening divorce before we get off the drive.

yep-best time to get em is during the day, rather than when you get home and they are tired and grumpy after a long day. Our 3 year old is an angel til about 6pm then turns into the monster from hell!

glad you had a fun day

I jest, enjoy your day with your son

Ouch - yeah luckily i'm not far from work.. Must be hard.. Yeah, is what Easter Holidays are for.. Spending time with family and arguing :).

Think it'll be better when he's a bit older - and not going to bed at 7ish.

love days like that - you should build a fort.

try not to argue bout it. end of the day needs must and keeping a roof above all of your heads is top priority. dont let the kids see you arguing cos im sure it will start to upset them.

when u do get the time together, make the most of it......obstacles in life are there to be worked around not smashed into. keep the kids sweet & have a good wknd

Yeah, that's the theory. We both know it's the stress and added pressure that's making us argue - and we both know we're really are lucky he HAS got a job - there's absolutely nothing round here for me or him even in ASDA/Tesco. It would be so much worse if they'd just made him redundant. The good thing is this holiday has been planned for ages, and it's ten days not just the weekend! That gives us three days of rowing, then a nice week to follow it up with!

I'm in EXACTLY the same position. My poor missus feels the opposite and wants to go to work to get a break, lol. Grass is always green and all that ..

A Quality Day with the kid..nothing but me and the kid all day.. it's all about me and the kid...Just going to go on the computer and tell everyone about it and answer a few replies.. but apart from that it's me and the kid :whistling:

I believe said kid is having a nap. Probably best to leave said kid alone during this time. From experience. Thanks.

i work shifts - 2 days 2 nights 4 off and when i start my shifts i can go 3 days without seeing my two kids which sucks - but then i get 4 straight days off with them - my youngest being 2 so i stay home all day with her and i get to take my son to school and pick him up - one of the "rare" dads that do that at my lads school...
so although i work crap shifts i do't think i could do a "9-5" job as i'd miss all that stuff.. downside i work a lot of weekends too ...

Indeed - he doesn't get in the best mood if he doesn't have his afternoon nap :).

It's a shame for Captain Hook though, looking stupid isn't fun.

Ethan is now having bath time with his mum, as i've now had my fill after carting him around sainsburys lol.

Yeah sounds kind of bitter sweet.. I drop Ethan off at babysitters on a Thursday morning before work, drive right passed a school.. Nothing but mums, i don't think i've ever spotted a dad dropping their kid off.

As a dad who regularly does a school run ... I get ignored by the mums. Hmph :-/

Have to agree with Captain Hook hardly quality time with Jeremy Kyle on the TV is it, If you need to have the TV on at least have a kids programme on that your son can enjoy instead of him listening to people airing their dirty washing in public!

Yeah, my son does look hard done by in those pictures.

I must remember to beat him less with my belt, thanks for the advise!

Why should I look stupid, I'm just going on the facts.. your quality day with your boy is to get up and switch the TV on.. then get out all your camera equipment and take pictures.. download them onto your computer and tweak them about a bit.. download them to the internet.. play about on HUKD for a bit.. take him around sainsburys..it's hardly going to be a day he isn't going to forget is it?

anyway I hope you get a good nights kip because I doubt your son will after a 4pm nap.

    :whistling:

I get about an hour at night with my daughter and sunday, other than that I am at work. You get a bit in the morning, so not all bad.

It never ceases to amaze me the things people will attempt to argue with you about on here, i'll play though.. Since you're determined to make such a fool of yourself on here.

Why should I look stupid, I'm just going on the facts..

Facts? I'm sorry.. You've got someone following me? Didn't realize you had my entire days itinerary.

your quality day with your boy is to get up and switch the TV on..

Again - as above.. I'm quite surprised you're aware of my entire days activities. I'd like to say you're just guessing what we did for the entire morning, but you seem so confident.. Something more sinister must be afoot

    Oh no wait..

then get out all your camera equipment and take pictures.. download them … then get out all your camera equipment and take pictures.. download them onto your computer and tweak them about a bit..

I took pictures of my son, jesus christ.. I never appreciated the consequences of my actions.. Next time i'm going to carefully consider what i'm doing before snapping those diabolical shoots of my son smiling, how could of not seen the error of my ways.. Thankyou, this is one man that is going to think before he captures some special moments to look back on.

I had considered starving him, perhaps a couple of quick punches to the gut for good measure. Unfortunately my conscious got the better of me, i went to buy him something for dinner. I'll never learn huh?

anyway I hope you get a good nights kip because I doubt your son will … anyway I hope you get a good nights kip because I doubt your son will after a 4pm nap.

He's a poorly boy at the moment, hense the snotty nose in the picture. So needed a little kip, as he had been up all day fighting it due to being ill.. Those damn children huh, when will they learn that they've got to go on my schedule.. Broken leg or cracked skull, this little chap is going to do what i want from now on!

Are we done now? I must for future reference remember not to leave the TV on for some background noise, may help me avoid such idiotic attacks. Believe they call it 'trolling'.

Should i post a whistling smile now....

    LOL, nice one bud ;-)

lol nice jeremy kyle tag line in the background.

cute kid too, enjoy ur easter weekend
