LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL! :w00t:i have deathproof and the otherone... cant … LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL! :w00t:i have deathproof and the otherone... cant remember what it's called.. grindhouse or something.. havent got round to watching but there is a massive cult following on the net

    Planet terror.

I know exactly what you mean, its a weird film but one with strange Wow feeling at the end (If this makes sense) I've seen it a number of times and still can't decide if it's rubbish or great.

It's supposedly part of a double bill under the title Grindhouse, the other film is called Planet terror, I'm looking forward (I think) to watching it and comparing.

in before someone says "never back down" is a great film.

that's it! they are supposed to be watched in order and i swear death … that's it! they are supposed to be watched in order and i swear death proof is the second one... so maybe you might like it more if you saw planet terror first!chesso if you know anything about finance can you help me with my isa choice? (its a new thread!)

Well OK but it's not quite as interesting as the best way to peel an orange.

I thought it was dead corny. Tarrantino is such a geek. He needs to stop paying homage to **** that wasn't good in the first place.

i liked Death-proof (saw it at the cinema previewscreening), wasnt sure as it was sinister at the beginning but as the film progressed it climaxed at the end. i checked with mates who have seen it, almost all the girls liked it and usually the boys not .. for some reason. i think tarantino is a 'closet' feminist lol (thinking of jackie brown). it's not your usual car chase (check out the crazy stunt shots, really done stylistically and shows off the stunt, makes you sit at the edge of your seat - the good ole stuff not these CGI + SFX rubbish). he's managed to extract what's good about the 'b-movies' genre and make it work with a modern twist, that is not lazy work i assure you.

on the other hand ... the 2nd half of Grindhouse was Rodriguez's Planet Terror ... not that crazy about that film, same ole formula nothing changed. You can tell the difference between the strokes of a master and a copy. Rodriguez has his moments but not too brilliant. As some of you might know RR resigned from the Directors Guild of America so that Frank Miller got the credits as co-director of the Sin City. One of his better decisions, even though it was strange (to people that time) that a film would be made exactly like the comic book, frame for frame.

i totally respect Tarantino as a director, as an actor i can't say the same. For his movies, I trust his instinct ... I'm more prepared to stay to the end of the film because I know I will be rewarded by it, the outcome would be right but something unexpected. Of all his movies, I'm still not 100% sure about Kill Bill (maybe it's Urma Thurman unable to hold a sword well lol) but I'll probably get it some day. OK so he's on edge all the time and talks waaaaayy too much in interview (lol can be annoying) but that's his mad passion re: movies ...

I loved Sin City, its one of my all time greats.

It reminds me so much of great 70's film called Vanishing Point which in turn reminds me of a Primal Scream album of the same name, so good all round.

Sin City is defo a man's film i think, most women i kno hate it as well.

    It is utterly disgusting.

    why?

I stuck with it until the bit with the heads - gross, sick, perverted; I cannot imagine why anyone would find the movie entertaining/diverting/interesting. Sick City.
So that's women for you !!

best thing about the Grindhouse movie is the trailers...Planet Terror was better than Death Proof but they were both rubbish

Are the trailers on the DVD's? I had a copy before it came out...

Originally Death Proof and Planet Terror were called 'GRINDHOUSE' 2 movies in 1 seperated by trailers (spoof) but it did so badly in America, they split them up and never really released them properly here

i love this film and my partner hates it, well he doesnt hate it just doesnt want to see it again.

Love both Planet Terror and Death Proof, they are awesome, the cheese and utter bad taste is on purpose.

As for Sin City if you never read the Frank Miller (also did 300) comics the film was somewhat toned down in comparison still wicked though, good cinematography, direction and fluid use of colour.

Vanishing Point - gotta love Kowalski.

I grew up reading graphic novels (best friend's brother's collection) so i do remember Frank Miller's Sin City. the problem with the film is in today's day and age, the macho fixation is a little out-of-date.

Modern ideals don't need to apply to fantasy to make it enjoyable, in that case Charles Dickens is a little out of date.

I thought Death Proof was a fantastic film. Unlike a lot of people however, I knew what I was expecting when I went to see it.

Most people I've spoke to who didn't like the film didn't "get" the film in the first place.

You see, I get the film, just don't like it

Then again I get Pulp Fiction and don't like it either, the only thing Tarantino has touched that I actually like is Dusk till Dawn and Sin city that I'm sure only had his name on somewhere. I did like his cameo in Little Nicky too

Just generally am not a Tarantino fan, yet can mostly watch anything

I thought planet terror was alright,It was better then i thought it was going to be, but far from being one of my fav movies.
