Decent digital camera for around £100

I've been set the task of finding a good digital camera for around £100. I'm really only familiar with the higher spec more expensive cameras so was hoping some one could personally recommend one.

Obviously just needs to be able to take all round good quality shots, not talking about DSLR quality just ones for the family album or whatever. Decent speed shutter pretty important. I imagine a good zoom would be a plus also.

I also like my sony point and shoot W1, perfect pictures every time, so I guess the new Sony's have improved as well. The Memory sticks are not expensive any more

The camera that I thing the person above is referring to is this one looks very good...I have a Canon DSLR and love them:-) amazon.co.uk/Can…H8I

Another vote for the Canon A1100is. Buy four decent hybrid style rechargeable AA batteries (2 to use and a spare set to carry with you) and a charger with your change. The quality will be as good or better than anything else in the £100 price range. I've got an older powershot and the only negative point I have is that the flash recharge time is quite long due to using AA batteries, so if you're planning on taking lots of indoor flash photography then you may want to think about a camera with a Li-ion battery instead, but I'd be suprised if you'd find anything that takes better pictures than this.

I went for the Lumix FS7, seemed like it had the best reviews for the price range. The lenses Panasonic use are among the best.

Fair enough, I think the Canon and Panasonic cameras are widely regarded to be the best compact cameras out there so I'm sure you (or whoever you're buying it for) won't be disappointed.... I'd have still gone for the Canon though:whistling:
