    Hi mate
Was in same boat and you see ppl arguing about 144hz and 4K gaming etc etc
However if you want a solid fps and maxed out graphics settings then I would go for a mint IPS 60hz panel such as the Dell U2515H
I have a gaming rig with a gtx 1060 with this monitor and it looks incredible and everything runs maxed out 2560x1440 - beautiful monitor and provides a great gaming experience as well as day to day.
    Hope this helps

Also use D-port rather than hdmi as hdmi is locked at 60fps where dport isn't

Well, gaming on anything under 144hz is horrible, and I doubt you'll get 144hz 1440p for that price.

Question might be better asked on the LTT forum if you want to get helpful responses. If I were you I would see what deals were on at Amazon and Overclockers, find some reviews and make sure the specs are okay. An IPS screen from a decent brand should always look great.

Also look for the right size for you. I wouldn't go under 24" and personally love 28" but it's down to personal taste

I've got the BenQ GW2765, I game at 1440p with my GTX 1080, monitor is lovely, great colours and good selection of inputs, I swapped from a 144hz 1080p monitor and i would rather have the resolution than the extra FPS

34" ultra wide 21:9 is the way to go. You won't want to go back to standard 16:9 once you've tried it. They're not cheap but the 100hz gsync ones are amazing.

To the people who down voted me have you ever wondered why you're bad at games ? Just wondering.

at your budget I'd recommend a 1080p 144hz. the higher resolutions are nice but once i get going i don't notice the resolution but I do notice the fps. at 1440p you won't get above 60hz, or g sync, in your budget which are both worth saving for imo

I have a Asus 27" 1440p 165hz Gsync IPS monitor and agree with longback2. If i was you I and i had £250 to spend on a monitor, I'd go with a decent 1080p IPS 144hz monitor.. I would have said go with 120hz but most high refresh rate monitors tend to all be 144hz+ nowadays.

Check amazon warehouse. I saw a decent 1440p monitor on there the other day..

Just spotted this for £147 with discount, not what you want OP but probably a good deal for someone..

For your budget you would definitely be better off looking around the 1920x1080 144Hz 1ms

Haha X) I know what you mean, but for most % off gamers it won't make that much of a difference to their skill level.

I have a 27" 1440 144Hz next to my 32" Samsung TV 60Hz 6ms, obviously you can tell the difference by a long shot, I can't play CS:GO on my 32" but can happily play League of legends on the 32" as it doesn't effect my legendary big plays.

No sure why you were downvoted for that though

I just love how many people have convinced themselves that what I've written isn't true though, brilliant <o/

At least if they don't believe, we will never see the "Dude you only beat me because you have 144HZ and I'm running 60!" X)

Your 1060 runs everything maxed out at 2560x1440? I strongly doubt that. 970 was a very strong 1080p card but couldn't play everything maxed at that resolution and 1060 is only a tiny bit better than 970.

Why would i lie? I have nothing to prove and yes it does run everything maxed out that I chuck at it. 1060 is a very good card I have the asus that even provides overclocking by default

144hz is a must especially if you have invested in a 1070. Don't listen to the people saying you don't need 144hz. The difference is night and day. If you have a 1070 you can take full advantage of that refresh rate.

Most people spend a lot on their PC but cheap ouy on the monitors.

You will be using this monitor for about 5yrs so invested in something high quality with a good warranty.

This is what you should buy, 3 yr warranty too. Cheapest by far too.
