Decent Tablet - with Budget of £150

    Hi All

Im in the market for a decent tablet. I know the market is not too popular for tablets at the minute, but its becoming abit tiring lugging my laptop around the house to do basic things, like web browsing, reading books whilst in bed or in the kitchen.

Im not too bothered about taking pictures and to a certain extent gaming (might play less intensive mobile games) on the tablet since i already have dedicated devices that can do those. I instead plan to use the tablet for reading books, listening to music, watching videos whilst cooking and web browsing when im not on my laptop.

    The Tablet Needs to have:

    - Minimum 2gb Ram

    - Good Processor (capable of multitasking well)

    - 1080p Screen

    - Expandable Storage

    - 8"> Screen

    - Bonus - Rootable (to install adblocking software)

Ideally i would prefer the tablet to be new, but i am open to looking at second hand tablets (in good condition) as well since that may meed my budgetary needs better.

    Any ideas?

    Many thanks

    Agree with above

samsung tab s, 3gb ram, octacore processer, faster than the s2, and your budget second hand, cex good source or ebay.

Not it isn't. The S2 has slightly upgraded cpu and GPU, both are better than S. The S has more pixels though. I would get S if you want it for video/films due to landscape orientation, but S2 for everything else, it's slimmer, lighter, more powerful and can record higher res video, so I would go for S2. I love mine anyway. Has a gorgeous screen.

go for the Lenovo Tab 2, not the Yoga. More spec for your money.

Appreciate the suggestion but the S2 price is way above my budget even in the second hand market?

I've found the Linx 1010 to be an excellent tablet, pretty much able to do anything a basic laptop can (i.e. surfing the web, emails and to some extent playing games) and because it's a Windows device it's far easier to use when you are used to using other Windows devices such as a laptop. I used to have a few Android tablets and never really got on with them (despite having an Android phone which is perfectly suited), and am loving the ease of use with a Windows tablet instead. The linx 1010 has full size usb ports as well which means backing up to an external hard drive or USB stick is a breeze. Build quality of the linx is pretty good also with an excellent screen!

i did look into the linx 1010 tablet. it's appealing but lacks a 1080p screen, that I would like to future proof the tablet for a couple years

I got my S2 for Xmas 15 and it was £219 then, so I just thought by now it should be £150 ish second hand. The screen is seriously leagues above anything else.

In that case I'd also look at the Lenovo range, as the one we bought for my son is equally of excellent quality (the A10 model I think), not quite 1080p it was very very good plus It has much better sound quality than my Linx. Android though, hence my choice over what my son has.

Ive had a look on ebay, and most start around £150 minimum with some long auctions starting around 50-60 but ive watched a view that still end up going for £200+. Could you link me to the tablet specs just to make sure im searching the right one?

True, but a friend of mine went and got the Argos deal @£99, seems Lenovo is holding back on updating the OS, not a deal breaker per se, just means more work when i get a table.
