Hi all, my wireless mouse is getting a bit old, would appreciate it if anyone could point me to a new full-size mouse.
Ideally i'd like wired, a scroll wheel, and a back and forward button...any suggestions?
cheers

Are you looking for the big back and forward buttons under your thumb or the smaller ones above your thumb?

After switching from the bigger style to the smaller style I've ended up using mouse gestures instead for my backs and forwards, the buttons only get occasional use in games with lots of controls (they're not bound in TF2 for example).

The microsoft mice are pretty good, I'm using one right now, but probably a bit expensive as their basic 3 button mouse starts at £10 and the 5 button intellimouse optical is a bit more.

Cheers for the reply, im on about the ones with the forward and back buttons above my thumb...and tbh I dont really game on my laptop at all, i'm just a lazy sod that cant be bothered to press refresh on ebay!
I'd say £15 is a more realistic price point with £20 being the absolute max...I just want something built well, sturdy, 5 buttons and wired.

It's near the top end of your scale, but I use the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0. The wired version can be had from ]Amazon or ]Play for £17.99 (inc Del.). Don't forget you can get 4% Quidco for Play as well.

thanks nightswimmer, thats exactly the sort of mouse i'm looking for...but i've had microsoft mice before, and the scrollwheel was pretty clunky, almost as if there was sand under it not smooth at all.
How is the scrollwheel on yours?

I'm using that mouse but I hadn't realised it'd gone down in price so much or I would have recommended it.

It's a nicely built mouse, there are a couple of things that niggle me but some people probably won't notice them. I find the scroll wheel too light. It does have the usual notched movement but requires a feather touch to activate. I also find the way the dirt builds up around the feet annoying, although the feet themselves are very solid and won't wear out like my previous intellimouse.

I like it. It's not 'sandy', but there are notches which give you feedback as to how far you have turned the wheel, which is useful. i can't say I have found it to be light, like EW has, but then again I have been using MS mice for years, so that could just be a case that I am used to it and don't know any different.

cheers crossbow...might look into that one

A note on DPI:
DPI is dots per inch, it's how many pixels the mouse travels when you move it an inch. A 400 DPI mouse like the intellimouse explorer 3 travels 400 pixels per inch. That means it needs about three inches to travel from one side of the other of a 1280x960 screen (19" monitor). A 1000 DPI mouse will feel much more sensitive because when you make the same movements the cursor will go 2.5 times father.

Although unless you're doing pixel perfect work you can adjust the sensitivity up and down in windows if the mouse's DPI is too high or low.
