    Dell Inspiron 560

My Father in Law is looking for a new computer and only needs it for basic email, internet and word processing. He also needs it to be able to burn dvd's from his videocamera.

He is looking at the Dell Inspiron Basic Model at £299.

    Any Thoughts?

I assume you mean this one?

If so it is a reasonable system unit.

Note it does not come with screen or speakers.

Note it also comes with 64 bit Windows. This MAY cause a problem if his video camera, printer etc dont come with 64 bit drivers for Windows 7 (some hardware products dont come with 64 bit Windows 7 drivers). If it is older hardware there almost certainly WONT be 64 bit Windows drivers.

Yes mate thats the one! He also has a decent monitor and speakers so doesnt need anything else really. Just the desktop. His current one is an emachines e3220 so this will be like a porsche in comparison!

Note the extra text I added at the bottom of my append above:

The first is a Vista box the second a Windows XP box.

So he should forget them both.
