    Anyone had any success making the Indian call centre understand about consumer rights in the UK?

    Had my m1330 for 13months and now when I turn on the laptop all I get is a white screen which then gets multi coloured. Reading up on it, this is a known issue with the 8400M GS card which it has. The guy on the phone said it is the motherboard and it will need to be replaced and because it is out of warranty I would have to pay. However after reading up on it Dell have extended the warranty by an additional 12months because of this card, a point I couldn't get across.

    He also didn't understand about either the Sales of Goods Act or EU Directive which give me as a consumer protection on fault like this.

    Waiting for a call back from Supervisor which should be interesting. Anyone think I am within my rights to expect a free repair considering it is only 13months old?

    no....45 minutes to customer support, not a clue. refused to use them since.

    i DID get help from the tech support guys, if anything, that's who you want to call.

    Thank do you have the number you used? Are they British? I dont usually mind Indian call centre but it sounds like they are going through a script, the moment you say anythin different they are just like :?

    it was quite a while ago. i'll see what i can find. actually i dont know if he was, maybe british/asian, since he was clued up on my laptops issues...

    I having major probelms with them myself.
    there is UK agents but they are only for business users (they pay a little more than home user)

    yeah that's complete rubbish, 3 days for a reply is a GOOD turn around...

    Best advice is on the phone, mind you, it took a month to get a microsoft works 7 cd....

    I did above, sent to a relations address in UK, then 4 weeks later (after I called so many times)
    An India guys calls me and just tells me the same thing that the support guys said.
    He didn't even have the 3 page letter I wrote. dell has become a joke in my eyes

    Thank goodness got through to someone who could understand me and got me sorted. Getting the motherboard replaced under an extended warranty. Did try to sell me another years warranty for £110 I gracefully refused!
