Dell Vostro 1400 Service Tag Not Recognised.

OK, so i have a vostro 1400 now (about a week old) and the dell website keeps telling me the service tag is unrecognised when i try to put it in. Even the scan my systme one won't work? Has this happened to anyone else?

Are u sure the service tag you typed in is right? Cos sometimes on the dell machines its easy to read a 'B' when its an '8' etc etc.

Try verifying this by going into your bios when you're booting up and the tag should be there

Definitely agree with the recommendation to check the service tag in the bios, occasionally I have come across machines which have mismatched service tags one of which isn't valid.

The service tag should also be in the BIOS. Compare the two

No chance. They get a service tag assigned and resgistered before it ships.

I had checked the service tag beforehand with the one in the bios and on the slip on the net and it still won't work

Is what is says when i try to contact dell online help
