I know Mike T knows his stuff with these machines but any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there, im my opinion, that is a little expensive for that configuration. A similarly specced PC from dell outlet would cost ~£500 (using the £55 off and free del they have at the moment) but no monitor - a 22" monitor will only cost about £100 though. Its definately worth checking out www.dell.co.uk/outlet to see what they have! In addition, many of the outlet systems for £500 have the 8800gt 512mb card, which is faster than the HD3870!
Hope that helps a bit!

PS - Vista 32 bit can't make full use of 4GB of RAM - performance will be identical if you have 3GB ;-)

Upgrading to the Ultrasharp is definitely worth considering, £50-60 for a zero dead pixel warrenty and fully adjustable stand isn't a bad price.

I don't know how good dell's tv tuners are but if you're in a poor reception area some TV tuners apparently can't pick up the signals that others can so if that's the case it may be better to leave this off and buy one separately. Also, do check if this is freeview or analogue.

Are dell speakers any good?

You're presumably going for an £800 PC because you want performance so I would dump norton and go for an AV and firewall that doesn't sap so much performance (kapersky is supposed to be a good av)

Yup fully recommend it and now its free too - ]clicky

If you still haven't found a pc yet, this is a superb deal:
Base unit for £450 (inc vat and delivery with £55 off voucher): specs and system identifier below.
24" Full HD 1080p monitor: ebuyer.com/pro…627 £208.79 inc vat and delivery.

Total: £659.23
£140 cheaper and that's with a FULL 1080p HD monitor (actually 1920x1200)!
Virtually the same spec base unit as the one you wanted, albeit with 3gb ram and 2x320gb hard drives which you can raid for better performance than 1 hard drive.

Hope that helps you!
