The confusion comes from when you add 1000 when you are at 3090. Your mind then adds 10 when you are at 4090 and the brain makes it sound like it will be 5000. when infact if you add 10 to 4090 you actually get 4100.

Strange. I get it right in my head now. Must be because I know the answer I guess.

I got 4100, not sure how to get anything else.

1000
+ 40
+1000
+ 30
+1000
+ 20
+1000
+ 10
---------
4100

Maybe in your mind you were adding 400, 300 200 & 100?
I've no idea.

Are these really trick questions?

lol, it's just I don't see the trick in the 'trick questions', so many jokers on misc I wondered if it was a wind up.
But then again I can't get how this moving girl can be seen moving clockwise or anticlockwise, I only see clockwise, I guess our brains all work differently.

i think at 4090 'you' are sort of storing 2 digits which are counting up with 2 empty spaces.
when the 10 comes to get added to 90 you cleverly remember that 100 means add 1 to column to left so you add it to next active column forgetting about the zero so adding to 4.

ofc i am just guessing as never did that

not sure on that rotating girl, atm i can only see clockwise too (and in epic plumber thread) but think when i saw it before i did see anticlockwise too but another image was used to activate it or something.

I googled it and managed to get her to spin both ways - if already spinning clockwise, look at her head and squint your eyes, well, that worked for me. Then look at her feet and fully open your eyes and it should go back to clockwise (again, that worked for me).

hmmm still clockwise, guess ill have to stand on my head

Does this help?

Reminded me of this classic for some reason.............

You are on a gameshow, you have to choose one of 3 doors.

1 of the doors has a brand new car behind it, and the other 2 are booby prizes

After choosing your door, before you find out what's behind it the gameshow host opens one of the remaining 2 doors and reveals one of the 2 booby prizes.

Now there remains 2 doors unopened, behind 1 of them is the car, and the other one is the booby prize

Should you switch your choice of doors? or keep to the door you chose at the start? does it matter?
