    Detoxing.

I need to do it. Anyone know of any good plans/plans you've used that have made you feel all fresh and happy/anything that doesn't just involved eating cabbage for a week?

Thanks, from me and my liver and my body.

Don't eat anything for 3 days, drink lots of water.

You might die, but if not, you should feel better in 3 days.

P.S: Boring thread. Congrats on not getting 100+ thread.

Since when did you have standards?!

Why do you need to detox?:?

I get that to some people it sounds like a good thing to do, but why exactly?

Just eat sensibly/healthily, get enough sleep and drink plenty.

Detoxing is just something a marketing department dreamt up to sell books to gullible people.

Should have set my IQ standards a bit higher. If I cut down on that, who would you find to abuse? It's a win-win situation for most people.

Seriously though, where are all the girls/non-morons?!

Are there differnt types of detoxing ?

I said non-morons, but you'll do. I already eat, sleep and drink sensibly...usually. I just want to flush my body out a bit, it feels like it needs it - I thought that was the point of a detox?!

Using terms like 'flushing out my body' sounds like it might be a good idea, but your body doesn't really need to do it. It's usually a placebo.

Best thing is just to live sensibly. Get a good night's sleep, have a good breakfast, eat small but regular meals every 2-3 hours, exercise and don't drink or use drugs to excess.

The body is a wonderful thing. It doesn't need servicing/detoxing/flushing out or anything else, it does it itself.

Well I'm happy to follow some kind of plan for a week if I can trick myself into thinking I've done something good for my body, placebo's aren't necessarily a bad thing!

Oh I didn't read it, it just looked like the sort of nastiness I'd expect to be told to eat/drink for a week to purify my system. Aah96's one looks far more like a normal menu, as you say. Just have fun with the "constipation, bloating, indigestion and fatigue."

Take a laxative. It'll make you feel 'flushed out' and it'll give you an empty feeling which is what detoxing generally does.

Then start eating properly. (and yes, I am being serious - boots do natural cheap laxatives).

We all need to detox our bodies once in a while.

    Really? Why?

As one of the resident misc biologists, I can assure you that, scientifically, what is commonly called 'detoxing' is a load of garbage - possibly the most brilliant advertising ploy ever.

If your exercise/diet/medical condition etc is healthy and you just feel grotty because you have been drinking too much alcohol, then stop drinking it and your body will recover and you will feel better.

Detox is purely marketing hype. No medical benefits whatsoever (unless you are constipated of course and want to wait a week to cure it!

I find it odd that the only people who ever mention detox are those who are already quite well. Those who are ill, don't have the luxury of a choice. They really want to eat and drink but cannot.

A good dose of Norvovirus should give you waht you want. Diarrhoea and vomiting for a few days, I can guarantee you won't feel any better after that.

I doubt you will want to but take your pick from anything on this page

not a believer that the body needs detoxing, although i did try it many moons ago and have to say felt worse and never felt any benefits whatsoever

Really interesting!! I get to the point sometimes that my diet is bad, feeling really lethargic, run down and feel I need to have a good clear out (yuk) and get back on track. I lost a lot of weight last year and must say since I have changed my eating habits I have been just fine. Plus a big downfall for me up till I joined Weightwatchers, was that I wasnt drinking enough water, which I do now.
