Found 2nd Mar 2010
Everyone is out of my house, but I kept checking the consignment, until it said signed for, and delivered. No one was in . . .

Anyways, my wife has just arrived home to find £700 worth of laptop been thrown over my 8ft fence and the delivery driver ever so kindly signed for it on my behalf!!

Divvy Hurls Laptop

id say that the package isnt there and that it looks like someones seen it being thrown over the fence and took it

I had a whole big box of parcel suppose to be full of new clothes from Spain delivered empty! And still insisted I must sign it before checking it out.

how would you know it'd been thrown over the fence if it's been stolen?

And the pointless post of the year..........

Had a bike delivered that way by I think city-link.
Didn't even open it, just sent it back explaining what had happened.

Maybe you were lane hogging one day and he got his own back?
Sorry to about your bad experience anyhow, hope it gets resolved.

What laptop? ...i didn't sign for a laptop. :whistling: ;-)

missing the point i think.... I wouldn't want it if it had been thrown over a 8ft fence.

HDNL leave stuff in my recycling bin and sign for it so they do not have to come back again it's a joke

Yes hit DHL, and the driver, where it hurts and claim you didn't receive the package. Mention a neighbour saw the delivery driver throw the package over. As your signature doesn't match the one given they will have to compensate the supplier of the laptop meaning you get two and the driver gets his ass kicked!

you never recieved it did you?

Yeah i'd personally say you never recieved it - end of the day it's DHL fault.. So DHL will have to pay the supplier.. Cheecky sods.

I've had this happen with DHL, only use CityLink now.. Who have been fantastic and consistant.

I would make sure it worked first! they are packed pretty well.

what some are advocating is a criminal offence. Now dont get me wrong and I am no saint, but do you want to end up possibly getting prosecuted for a deception.

These actions also harm every consumer in the country.

You got the parcel and if its working and in one piece I dont see what you have to gain despite DHL actions being wrong.

I would check the contents and go from there, and complain to at least get something out of it.

I agree with this partially...but then again the driver did exactly the same by fruaduantly signing for the parcel so its same from both parties if they raise that

Yeh, lets all punish the delivery guy because he was trying to save you some time and effort

Sicko's like him need to be locked up

I'd imagine it was thrown into the back garden. HDNL have done it with parcel's of mine before.... we live on an end plot so it's easy to get to the side wall of the rear garden and throw them over. I keep the gate locked for obvious reasons.

Anyway, where did you get your 8ft fence from. I have been looking at some fencing recently and could only go up to 7ft if i had a gravel board.

So rather than doing what he is supposed to do, the driver throws the item over a high fence and signs for it himself and he's doing the recipient the favour?? Please, surely nobody can believe that?

The driver can't be sure what is in the package. In no circumstance would anyone think it ok to throw a laptop over a fence. What if it wasn't a laptop, what if it was something you was sending to somebody, say an item that can't be replaced. You have every right to expect the item be treated well during transit to its destination, not thrown around.

The driver is a joke and should be sacked for what he did and the supplier of the laptop change delivery company, only this way can this behaviour be stamped out

To be honest..

If the DHL drivers are quite happy to throw your parcel over a fence, i'd imagine they wouldn't feel to badly about playing football with it at any stage in the delivery process.

Laptop could easily develop long term faults from impact, that wouldn't be apparently instantly or even in the first few months.

Only way you discourage these idiots from doing such things - is claim you never recieved it.. Drivers will soon catch on that they'll either be fired or seriously repromanded if they drop off without a signature.

Sure you could claim for a refund or a new item - but likelyhood is it'll come with DHL again.. As retailers have long term agreements with couriers to get reduced priced on volume. Trust them to not play basketball with your parcel at the depot second time around? I wouldn't..

It may be fraud.. But in my opinion, it's justified fraud
