diet advice, any help?

am just wondering if anyone with a bit more knowledge can advise me on supplements, diet etc.

    am 32, 5ft 7ish and i currently weigh just over 12st.
am looking to lose the gut that just won't seem to shift.

average weekly exercise is 3hours of kung fu training which can range from slow tai chi style movements to full on sparring sessions and some fierce aerobic training, sometimes all within each session!
apart from the last 2 weeks (just become single again after 3 years) i normally do an hour of swimming midweek.

my job isnt exactly putting me through the mill, physically. i work in a small store. tho there is quite a bit of running up and down 3 flights of stairs for stock.

I can't really do any more kung fu sessions without joining another club and starting again from scratch.
I dont really eat a lot of crap. mostly cereal for breakfast with some coffee. lunch i'll usually just either have more cereal or sometimes if I know I'm going to training straight after work, or we have a gig with the band, I might have something more at lunch time and some cereal when I get in.

I know the usual reply is -lots of fresh fruit and veg, I can't really stand much veg, potatoes, carrots is about all I can stomach.
fruit wise, oranges and grapefruit is about all I like.

hardly eat red meat at all, maybe the occaisional bit of steak or gammon once a month.
don't eat much in the way of sweets or chocolate bars, tho I do like a bit of ice cream. am trying to eat the low fat stuff now tho.

don't eat much else dairy, milk on me cereal, always skimmed.

just wondering if something like a meal replacement diet would help me shift the few pounds of gut thats just annoying me. its quite evident because I'm quite short too!

maybe something to just speed up the metabolism so i don't feel so totally f**ked after kung fu sessions.

    any help is much appreciated.

I personally dont like diet replacements, im a weight watchers member and have lost over 2 stone since May just by sensible eating , its all down to portion control, master that and you have it cracked

I am a fan of slimming world, and just about to reach my stone loss. Slimming world is really really easy and simple to follow.

Too much cereal. Eat smaller meals, more regularly so you're eating every 2-3 hours.

I don't really get the chance to eat every 2-3 hours.
you're probs right about the cereal buts not sugary stuff, its usually just bran flakes or special K.

With WW we are taught that it doesnt matter what time of day you eat as long as you stick to your points
You just use the points finder here to find your daily points:
    1. Are you
    female?- score 2
    Male?- score 8
    A nursing mom?- score 12

    2. How old are you?
    17-26- score 4
    27-37- score 3
    38-47- score 2
    48-58- score 1
    over 58- score 0

    3.What do you weigh?
Enter the first two digits of your weight in pounds.
(for example, yours would be 12) so you add 12 to the score

    4. How tall are you?
    Under 5’1- score 0
    5’1-5’10- score 1
    Over 5’10- score 2

    5. How do you spend most of your day?
    Sitting down? score 0
    Occasionally sitting? score 2
Walking most of the time? score 4
Doing physically hard work most of the time? score 6

Now add them all together and that’s your daily total.

Works for me i said im 2 stone lighter Since May and have lost over 5 inches from my waist

Might be worth you giving it a look at

Its all about the amount of calories you intake, compared to the amount of calories you burn off, coupled with the rate of your metabolism. If you dont like veg/fruit, its pretty tough to eat small regular portions that will keep you satisfied and keep your metabolism going.
