Hi does anyone know if there is a difference between a pay as you go and a contract handset if the phone is the same model?
My guess is no, im sure theres not, but my network seems to swear there is....

So whos my network... three...im so annoyed with them these days as they are so incompassionate. Story goes, I just took our a 24mth contract with them 3months ago, lost the phone about 1month ago,,, my phone was the HTC wildfrire. Loved the phone but didnt have insurace so was reported lost, blocked and i never had it returned. So currently I am phoneless, and have been searching around for a new handest.

Ive seen the deals on here on the HTC wildfire, they are as expired now, but i actually spoke to someone online with vodaphone who said they have them in stock at the oinline price. (think its about £140) but the offer price was £129 or there abouts with play.com and vodaphone. I would then need to get the phone unblocked however which would cost me another £20.

So I phoned three today as they say they will give u exclusive deals under the circumstances to compensate a little for my loss...the deals are basically trying to con u into a new longer contract... but i ended up being offered a deal on the inq chat normally £79.99 theyd do for £49.99 for me, or the zte racer normally £99.99 theyd do for £89.99 but on looking at these ohones im not sure im keen on either in comparisson to the HTC wildfire.

So phoned them back asking for a deal (again) on the wildfire when she said no i said well id just go buy with vodaphone and her come back was that if i bought a pay as you go phone from anyone the handset wouldnt have the same applications as a contract phone ??? (she went onnnn and onnnn about it) got fed up and said okay i'll go think about the ZTE racer but i really feel they just want u to be stuck with a phone u dont like so u phonbe them to extend ur contract!! Ive heard of other networks giving reduced prices for handsets in these circumstances so why wont three... or at least why wont they give me the £30 discount they offered on the inq for the phone i want!!!!(The htc wildfire with them is £189.99)

Sorry for long rant but im sooo annoyed and I REALLY need a phone !!

thats just pushy sales talk i reckon!
if you buy it on voda it has to be unlocked tho?

You sure can use your contract sim card in any pay as you go phone (as long as its either unlocked, or on the network your contract is with) - everything should work as normal.

Buy it where ever it is cheapest and unlock it!

yes it would definetly need to be unlocked but i cant see why it wouldnt have all the features that a 'contract' phone would have??

yes thats the one, thank you... but idstill need to get it unblocked which will cosst another £20. Ive also heard (via this site) the wildfire should be dropping in price soon so dont know wether to maybe hold out for now and wait till it drops... and buy a cheap three phone for the time being...
