Digital Photo Frames - advise from owners

Found 28th Nov 2008
Just picked up a cheapy photo frame for my Mum for Christmas from Aldi - so it can go back if it is not suitable.

The one problem I have found with it is that if you turn off the power from the remote, the screen does not go off, i.e., it stays illuminated by the backlight

Now my um is in a nursing home so this would be in her room / bedroom so it would be better / desirable that it could be turned off a night, but she is disabled and would find it hard to turn it off using the switch on the back but would be fine with the remote.

So is this functionality normal for this type of device, i.e. turning off from the remote does not turn of the backlight?

Or can someone recommend a cheapish photo frame taht can be turned off into a kind off standby mode (no backlight) from the remote?

Thanks
