Anyone able to give me some ideas on what to do!
Basically my mum was watching t.v as normal and all of a sudden the t.v (with freeview built in) went weird!!
The only channels she is able to receive are bbc channels and nothing else!
All 3 of the t.v's in her house have done this. She has tried to reset them, tune them in again but still nothing!
A couple of her neighbours t.v's are fine so it seems to be just my mums!
Can anyone give me any tips for her to try!
She is getting annoyed as her soaps are on soon!! - LOL

  1. Misc
  2. Freeview

Try unplugging them, leave them a few minutes then plugging them back in, that might work.

When she rang me i told her to do that but still nothing!
I thought it had just crashed but it seems worse than that!

Is it only the freeview channels that are affected or are the analogue ones the same? i.e can she get the ITV channels on analogue on any of the TVs

Do all the TVs use the same aerial?

Could be a problem with the aerial.

3 separate indoor aerials!

Terestrial tv is working as normal just the freeview channels!

Do the neighbours have freeview? It may be a problem with the signal in her area.

That could be the problem, indoor aerials aren't very effective (especially on freeview) if the atmospheric conditions are poor as sometimes happens in this weather.
The rerason that the freeview BBC channels are working is that the BBC signals are sent at a stronger level than the commercial ones

If her neighbours are getting a signal it can't be a transmitter problem.

TBH the only option is an aerial upgrade.

The neighbours she checked with are fine and i am only a few minutes walk from her and mine is fine!!

Dont know if it has anything to do with it but her internet won't connect either!!

She is getting well teasy!!

The problem has only now started with it being fine for the last 6 months!

Hello there my freeview is the same, since last night i try to put a programme on channel five it just puts bbc1 on

Do you and her neighbours have external aerials or ones in the loft.

You could take a freeview box over to her house (if you have a separate one) to see if a box you know works does the same at her house.

I still think it's a combination of a poor aerial and the atmospheric conditions though.

We get the same problem at our caravan on Anglesey. In hot weather most freeview channels are lost but eventually work again when the weather cools.

No she has all internal freeviews!

Appriciate your advice!!

It could be another appliance in the house drawing a lot of current and spewing out high electro magntic force locally disrupting the signal. Try just having the telly on and see if it makes a difference.
