    Digital Senders

    Hello

Wondering if anybody can help out. Basically I used to have an old virgin pace box, used to run a coax cable out the back of it upto the bedroom so we could watch whatever was on downstairs.

Now have the new cisco hd box but there is no ouput on the back to do the same thing.

Presume I need some digital senders but sent the good lady to maplins today and they said they would not work with the hd box.
Is this right? Im not bothered about having hd upstairs and I dont have a working tv aerial

Would be grateful for any ideas or links to sender

    Thanks

If there is a scart socket, you can use a scart to RF adapter.

It won't work on HD channels though.

In order to transmit the signal you have to toggle from HDMI out on the V+ box to scart instead in order to use a video sender.

This would mean each time you wanted to watch in the bedroom you would have to go into the V+ menu and change the output to scart which would be a pain in the butt. I reckon Virgin deliberately had the firmware so that the output only works one at a time either HDMI or Scart, but not both at the same time.

If you did decide to go that route, and have a wireless router in your house, you would do better spending the extra cash on a 5ghz signal sender rather than the 2.4ghz ones as you will bound to get interference in sending the signal.

Thanks for the replies. I wonder if virgin do that so you have to subscribe to a second box?

Sounds like a load of hassle, probably have to stick to watching dvds

I am pretty sure they do, you could always consider a satellite dish and receiver for the bedroom (although you would only get free to air channels)

I do have a dish fitted so thats an option worth looking into thanks

I doubt it's a deliberate upsell ploy from Virgin.

There is only one video device in the box and it can only be set to output in HD or in SD. If you set it to HD, this won't work over scart. If you set it to SD, then it won't work for HD channels -unless they built in a downscaler.

Allowing one at a time avoids user confusion. As more channels convert to HD, the SD connection is going to become less value.

If you have a dvd recorder or even an old video recorder these will have an RF out.
