A friend of mine has been fined for unloading on a double yellow line ion a Saturday while having displayed their disabled badge. Apparently a picture of him parking there was sent to his home.

Can anyone tell me if she was actually allowed to unload there or not, with a blue badge on a saturday ?

thanks

thanks for the quick responses. she cant find the book that came with it or a website with it on, hence asked me (I dont know either though).

Anyone know for sure ?

leics.gov.uk/ind…htm

in leicester blue badge can park on double yellows for 3 hours, might be worth checking your local council website

Depends what the parking restrictions were...

thanks guys. I'll convey the info that it seems she could park there for up to 3 hours if not obstructing.

parking restriction ... isnt a double yellow line just a double yellow line no matter where it is ?

If the road has lines up the kerb, as in this picture then parking restrictions are in place, the times are normally displayed on lamp posts etc.http://www.essexcc.gov.uk/vip8/ecc/ECCWebsite/content/binaries/pictures/parking/parking_yellow.jpg

Who sent the fine and picture? If he is registered as disabled there shouldn't be a problem.

was the ticket from the police or local council? If it's the police they would have given the ticket if the car was obstructing something or parked dangerously

get your friend to look at the book that came with his badge, as i think … get your friend to look at the book that came with his badge, as i think you can park on double lines as long as the badge is displayed and the little clock card..i have a disabled badge and i 've parked on double yellow line a few timeswith no problems..if it wasnt a traffic warden that gave him the ticket i'd check with the police as it might be someone scamming

You definitely can park on SINGLE yellows for 3 hours with a blue badge but surely not double yellows?

The whole point of double yellow lines is surely that if somebody does park there they will be causing an obstruction?

As to unloading, I wonder what they were unloading? If they are fit enough to unload a vehicle, surely they are fit enough to park somewhere that doens't have double yellow lines? Not trying to be funny but there are way too many bludgers that abuse the blue badge scheme imho.

Single Yellow line: At certain times ANYONE is allowed to park there, for the rest of the time it's Blue Badge holders only for a maximum of 3 hours.

Double Yellow line: You can park here ONLY if you have a blue badge, and for a maximum of 3 hours.

Double yellow line with one dash up the kerb: Disabled badge holders only. Read signs for rules.

Double yellow line with double dashes up the kerb: Blue Badge holders only. Strict rules... read the signs.

Double Red lines: No parking AT ALL. Red route.

"Loading Only": You WILL get a ticket even with a blue badge.

ALWAYS read the signs when you park, even if there are no lines. Even in spaces without lines, if you do not have a ble badge then there are probably time restrictions.

thanks a lot duck ! That clears it up.

When I said unloading, I meant she was helping her mother off the passengers seat to go into a shop. Not unloading any goods etc.
