distance selling restrictions - cancellation rights

I thought under these restrictions you had 14 days to cancel a delivered item - I am trying to return a console which is no longer wanted and am being told no it is 7 days even though the minute I got it I called and they confirmed 14 days to me on thephone - does anyone know the correct time frame. Thanks.

wii console and www.IT-buy.co.uk an Amazon market place trader. I think it has been 9 days since it arrived (still in courer packaging) and they definitely told me 14 days when I got it on the phone. any thoughts?

ring them and tell them if they dont allow you too return it you will make a complaint too amazon.im sure they want too continue being a trader on amazon. i would do that asap.im assuming you will be expected too pay for postage too return it.or if you have not paid too much over the odds put it on ebay too recoup your money.

Long distance selling regulations IS 7 days.

yes it is odd Amazon says 14 days returns to marketplace traders but their site says 7 days!

How long have you had it ?

Cancellation periodsThe regulations give consumers an unconditional right … Cancellation periodsThe regulations give consumers an unconditional right to cancel an order. This is to allow the consumer the opportunity to examine the goods or consider the nature of a service. If a consumer cancels an order, written notice must be given to you by: * goods – seven working days from the day after that on which the goods are received by the consumer; * services – seven working days from the day after that on which the consumer agrees to go ahead with the contract.

but it can be longer, more info here:

and remember the 'cooling off' period isn't just for long distance selling.

Depending on how much you paid - could be easier to sell it on.

The distance selling regs is 7 days.

Some retailers offer more than this, but this nothing to do with the DSR's.
