DIY Flam railway?

  • Stopping off at Flam in August on a cruise. Just wondering if it's risking it being sold out by doing ourselves on the day? There's only our ship in that day. The cost difference is about £25 against the ship's trip cost.

I didn't go on it, but when we went there it was pretty busy tbh

If you really want to go on it, you would be taking a risk by not pre booking.

I think you can book yourself online.

I was in Flam a few weeks ago but didn’t take the railway. August is likely to be busy but the majority of people we saw there had come off cruises, so might be ok if you’re the only cruise ship there. I’d say booking in advance is a good idea though if you really want to do it. Otherwise you may never get the chance again! I’d advise the Flam safari too. They take you out into the fjord on a speed boat for like 2 hours and it’s so much fun
Thanks. I tried booking online, but it's sold out- block booking by the cruise line no doubt. We've just booked with the cruise line to be sure.
