Buy a cheap one first i.e. A hubsan x4. Syma 5c etc and learn to fly properly that way WHEN you crash it won't be a £700 crash.

why go for the pro as your first one?
like mentioned try another maybe the phantom 3 standard or bebop

I have the standard. It was my first drone. Flying is easy straight out of the box. Holds perfectly still even in a strong breeze. Go for it. You won't regret it.

thanks barrel24 I have had the syma x5 learnt how to fly that easily but want something that will last longer in air I think the standard will be the better choice just thought 699 was a good price for the pro looks like I'll have to go buy one from drones direct 449 they seem the best apart from the pro what's distance like on? standard

You need to consider if you're going to benefit from the extra features of the pro model.

I'm super excited, I just picked up a secondhand advanced model with 2 batteries for £250. I'm looking forward to trying it out. Just doing some research first to make sure my first flight goes well.

Won't regret it until the GPS fails and you kill or injure someone because you didn't learn to fly without the gps and all the assistance and it fails and you panic. It's people like you that will sadly get this hobby banned.

First flight with a quad? If so that's reckless and irresponsible, you should learn to fly with something that doesn't have as much of a baby mode. At some point the GPS and/or assistance modes will fail, if you've not learn to fly without them then you're putting yourself and others in danger.

Just know it will be made safely and responsible.

Yeah, I otherwise wouldn't have bought one secondhand, I just got lucky on price. Thanks and I hope you figure out what model you want.
