DK2 Oculus Rift

Well currently you can get a DK2 for a 150£, Is this a bad idea? I work part time and 500£ for a Oculus rift is just madness. and don't start with the HTC Vive. but is this just going to be a unsupported 150£ brick this time next year? or will it be picked up by a nice modder who will keep the DK2 alive...I just can't tell if this is a bargain or a snake in the grass, Having some one to talk to with a DK2 would be awesome.

DK2 is not officially supported anymore. What games would you like to play?

Just stuff on steam really, i don't intend to use the oculus store. Just things on steam that already VR. if that makes sense. Job simulator, Alien Iso, Outlast. And things like that.

I think you will be ok with DK2 personally

Does the DK2 support the new controllers though? As they will be needed for the likes of Job Simulator.

Also is your computer up to spec to be able to play these games? I've got a 970 card and it struggles with some games on the Vive.

Dont think the dk2 supports the vr controllers. You would have to use a xbox controller.

Im just concerned if it just ends up being useless tech i've bought.

Well it is outdated (but what tech isn't lol).
There is no more official support.
Seems like the games you mentioned will work with dk2.

Well when you say no more official support, Does that mean if a game comes out now that's VR the dk2 won't work with it? or is it a case of it might work it might not?

Technically a new release wont work. But you can download different runtimes. And then possible mods.

I mean its not supported by oculus. A game developer might support it

Ahhh, so there is a possibility. that a modder/dev. will carry on trying to update DK2 who doesn't work for oculus? If there is a future for DK2 then the price is a bargain.

Its technology is close to the public release and no reason why it shouldn't be supported by developers. Atm you can download different sdk and runtimes. Along with mods (eg - elite dangerous)
