Do i need a nunchuck to go with the wii and wii play (with extra controller) that i have got my son for christmas?

I keep hearing 'nunchuck's mentioned but am not clear what it is and whether i need to get one. I have got my son lego star wars game and couple of others and would hate for him to not be able to play them properly on christmas day

You get a nun chuck with the console, you could buy another to go with the wii-remote from the wii play.

they normally come with the package but just check to make sure :-D

as above, a nunchuck comes with the console but another one would come in handy but its not essential

    Hi

I was in the exact same situation last xmas having bought a Wii but unsure about all the stuff needed for my son.

Wii play is a great buy as you get the extra game plus extra wiimote.

I was told that you need a nunchuck for each wiimote you have and I think that has proved to be good advice.

What age is your son - we had problems with my son chewing the wire between the nunchuck and wiimote when he was concentrating hard on a game and so now have wireless nunchucks that we have brought back from USA.

There are some FAB games about for wii - we have lego star wars and we have the light sabres that you put the wiimotes into for this game.

You will find the staff really knowledgable and helpful in Game/Gamestation if you have either near to you. (or of course you can ask away on here)

    Hope that helps

On the back of the game boxes it tells you whether a nunchuck is required or not... There is a little diagram at the top of the box showing which peripherals are needed.

ALL Wii games require the Wii-mote, but only SOME require the nunchuck.

As people above have said, you get one nunchuck in the console package, anyway.... unless your son is going to be playing lots of 2-player games that use the nunchuck, then I don't think a second one would be required straight away.

On the Wii Sports game, only the Boxing mini-game uses the nunchuck, and on the Wii Play game, only the Tank mini-game uses it. I'm pretty sure you'll need one for Lego Star Wars, as the analogue stick on it is how you move your character on-screen.

He'll be able to play all his games with what comes in the package - it's only if he will be wanting to play together with friends that you may require an extra nunchuck (and wii-mote, obviously).
