Do I really need an extra nunchuk for my Wii?

    Hi all.

Am awaiting delivery of my Wii - I get a wiimote and nunchuk with it, right?
I have got Wii Play here so have an extra Wiimote but will I be needing an extra nunchuk too?
My Amazon Prime trial runs out tomorrow so want to order tonight if I do need one.
Also, can the nunchuk be used instead of a wiimote? As in if I have 2 of each can I use all of them for a 4 player game?

    thanks

Oh, and are the wii sports/wii play 4 player?

The nun-chuck is an accessory to the Wiimote, it simply adds an analogue stick, another button and another motion sensor but can't replicate any of the other functionality. One Wiimote and one nun-chuck is supplied with the Wii. If you have two Wiimotes and two nun-chucks you can only play a two player game, you need four Wiimotes and any further accessories for four player games.

Whether you need one really depends on the games you are wanting to play in two player, some games need the nun-chuck controller but others don't.

Need is a bit strong, for the money, I would get one, but it depends on what games you have. Some need the extra nunchuck, others can be used without it, but not as useable.

Wii sports has 4 player, I can't remember if Wii play has any 4 player games.

On wii sports you'll need another nunchuck if you want to play 2 player boxing.

If you wanted to play the boxing with 2 players on Wii sports, you would need the extra nunchuk.

Also, if you wanted to play 2 player onthe tank game on Wii Play, you'd need the extra nunchuk.

    Ordered - thanks all!

the nunchuck gets it power from the wiimote so just waving it around not plugged in to the wiimote will not control anything.
