Nah doubt it they could say it wasn't bougth their in 1st place.A few yrs ago you prob would done it but shops got a lot stricter.
It needed to be a own product if you need to take back and have no receipt to have any chance.

If you can prove you actually bought it from there with a statement or something then you should be ok.

I have exchanged stuff at HMV without a receipt

yeh it probably had hmv barcode on saying HMV etc.

My local woolies will barely exchange even with a receipt... depends who you get serving you perhaps & bank statement to prove spent money there might help...

Yeh bank statement is good if you have.

Otherwise, it is hit and miss who you get.

I had one who wouldn't do anything at all, but another time had one that said I could exchange.

They may ask you what date and rough time you purchased it as they can look it up on their system.

i used to work at woolworths and you have no hope of getting anything exchanged with out a recipt unless it is chadvally or ladybird stuff. the only way they will exchange the product is if you payed by card and have a statment to prove it. hope that helps,

and good luck, there policys are stupid

The smaller Wollies stores seems to be better for taking stuff back. It's well worth a try. My local will do it, but Grimsby say no without hesitation.

if woolies doesn't try another shop...not hmv and you might get away with maybe a supermarket!

Woolworth dont like exchanges. They loose margin. They can do a trace of your receipt with the barcode and approximate date of purchase. They can find the last 4 digits of your card no if you paid by car. Dont let them fob you off.

No, it didn't it was from Woolies and I had lost the receipt!

Yes i agree with some of the comments above about taking a statement in if you paid on card. I bought something from Maplin for a friend but she had lost the receipt. The sales assistant said he wouldnt refund without a receipt so i pointed to the refund sign which said "receipt or other suitable proof of purchase" and asked him what exactly other proof of purchase is?

He went and asked the manager and the manager gave me the refund.

brill thanks guys, well i will try them. Paid with cash but i will try.

    Great bunch!

back in the day most shops would take stuff back without hesitation, receipt or no receipt. Thanks largely to the amount of copying that goes on, even with receipts, shops are more reluctant to take things back for anything other than like for like exchange.

It really comes down to trying, you might be lucky, or they may flat out refuse.

I was in Asda yesterday with a dvd I'd bought. Asda had left the security lock on it (red plastic on the dvd opening), because I'd lost my receipt they refused to open it for me incase I'df stolen it
