Do you reckon the Ipad will ever be offered on contract?

Was wondering, if at anytime you think they will offer a ipad on contract?
Like a phone or like the laptops with mobile broadband?

    No.

But if it were, I'm sure there would be some flocking to sign up.

    on contract for what......
    its not a phone

Maybe.....but it nearly always works out to be more expensive than buying it.

    A 3g dataplan.

I would not be surprised if it was sometime next year when sales have died down a bit and a new model is on the horizon.

    Indeed, :-)
I don't mind paying more than the original cost at times its just better to extend a payment for me not because I can't afford to buy it in full but more because I hate to see my balance half like that haha

Then you definitely shouldn't buy one.

there is a data plan for them on selected networks (with micro sims), so i can't really see why they wouldn't release them on networks tied to plans (though i imagine it'll be 3-6months before they do release any such thing)

it'll be on a 3g data plan in the near future!

I played with one last week. It definitely wasn't rubbish but even taking "Apple tax" into consideration, I still don't think I could justify paying the retail price for it.

Maybe a year on when there's more fierce competition, tablet computing takes off and Apple add a few more basic features that are missing I'd actually consider buying one.

As for iPad contracts - most networks already offer dataplans. Bundling an iPad with them would just increase the cost (cost of iPad/length of contract) so there'd be no real point to it.

probably when the next generation appears there will be a data plan of some sort.

wishing I hadn't cancelled my original order now as had a play with a mates 3g version today and its great, very easy to use and compliments my macbook pro perfectly

will get one within the next month or so without a doubt.
