Games are saved directly onto the wii so you dont need an SD card. I havent got a docking station for the wii remotes but im thinking of getting one, its just personal preference i guess

How long do batteries last in the remotes?

What is the SD cards used for on the wii then?

I don't use an SD card either. You can view your photos on the Wii and also download games via the VC so I think the SD card is just a form of expandable memory. I don't use docking stations either, just bought a pack of rechargable batteries instead (either way you have to remove the rubber sleeve from the remote to get battteries or plug it into the docking station.)

As for games, personal preference really. I think Zelda and Mario Galaxy are great and I love NFL 2007 too!

Oh...and batteries last a while but is worth investing in some way of recharging them, you'll spend a fortune otherwise!

I have had our wii for over a year and have had no need to buy an additional sd card. There is loads of memory on the wii itself, we have got loads of game saves on there and we have downloaded about 6 games, so I wouldn't bother getting one.
As for the docking station my sons play on the wii a LOT, so we were forever runing out of batteries so the docking station was worth it for us. I got ours from Choices for £9.99 online, I don't know whether they are still that price but that was good considering you get free delivery and cashback.
Our favourite games are Mario Galaxy definately, I have preordered Mario Kart which comes out next month which should be fantastic, also Mario Party, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games (my son loves Mario).
For something a bit more grown up my other half likes No More Heroes.
Mercury Meltdown and Monkey ball are also good if you like puzzles.
Do remember though if you have a wireless router to connect your wii up to the internet, very easy to do. Then you can browse the net and download games onto your wii, also you can play on the various multiplayer games (like mario strikers).

If you want to put photo's on your Wii, then one is necessary.

When you have photo's on it, you can use them to doodle on, and play a game using them as puzzles. A 1gb SD card can be bought for under £3, so I would advise everyone with a Wii to get one.

You don't need a wireless router, you can get a LAN adaptor for a tenner and use a wired connection. This also doesn't suffer from lag, like a wireless connection is prone to.
