    Dodgy?

Got my phone on ebay and got this message through..

Hi, If your phone in good working condition I would like to offer total of 80 pounds (INCLUDED airmail postage to Singapore) for your phone. Highest ever!! If you agreed, I'll bid with the exact amount, and you close it immediately by 'end auction early and sell to highest winner'. I'll pay by PAYPAL immediately after auction close.

Alternatively, you may provide me with the shipping cost to Singapore only, so that I can bid your item through normal way. Usually the postage is about 5~10 pounds from my pass records.

I am PAYPAL verified user and I have excellent pass record with over 500 transactions and more than 99% feedback. Hope can deal with you this time!

Now I usually dismiss these emails straight away, but this one seemed more legit. They usually dont mention the catagory of the item, but in this case mentioned 'your phone'. Also they have obviously baught phones in the past with good feedback they also give options.

I'm 90% sure I will ignore this, but has anyone else got an opinion on this?

actually if they have bought phones in the past with good feedback that might be a legit offer. ask dinosteveus he probably knows whats up with this.

You sure it's not a hijacked account?

Perhaps they pay using a stolen card and sellers dont find out till after?
What phone is it/ what's the value in proportion to £80? If it seems too good to be true it probably is. Just had a gander at past dealings - seems like alot of lower value phones there rather than £80+ mobiles? Alot of nokia 6600s.

Its a Nokia N70. Would reach about 60 on here {if anyone was interested!!!!) and 70 on ebay, so its a good offer at 80.

Still potentially nothing if its a jacked acc/ card vs taking £60 here? No brainer for me, but if you want to gamble it's your call.

I'd avoid anyway, For the sake of a few quid I prefer to sell UK only.

Yep I'll just ignore it. Auction finishes tomorrow anyway. Thanks for the advice guys

I agree with Sean, could be a hijacked account or they could be using a stolen credit card.
It could well be totally legit, but it's not worth the gamble in my opinion.
Here is his last 30 day bidding/buying history:-

what is Donleeone 's username on ebay?

yh lol he seems to be buying alot of 6600 and 7610 and all the sellers have ended listing early for him. he doesnt seem to like to bid properly does he.

I know people from abroad buy phones from here and then they sell at really high prices over there. Not sure about singapore though as i thought its already quite technically able but ive heard that example in Nigeria. One thing you could do is send an email to Ebay and they will check it out properly. Ive done this before too and trust me it works. Although if he said hes paying by paypal, as long as you send legally lol through recorded delivery or something, you be okay?

Even if it is a stolen card, doesnt mean you wont get the money. Feel sorry for the guy its stolen off of but you know what i mean lol.

Not even the slightest question: it's a scam. The insistence on immediate ending, the obviously mass-mailed message, pay by paypal, tons of purchases *snore*

to add to this if hes asking people to end auctions early (even when he probably knows he could get it cheaper if he waited!), it begs the question:

Is he on a time constraint?
    Why?
Because hes on a hijacked acount?

To be covered with Paypal you have to send to a confirmed address, within a reasonable time scale, fully tracked parcel - but even then YOU have to pay an excess to claim, YOU have to go through the hassle of getting your money back, and even then you might not win the dispute.

Good advice on here - if in doubt DONT!

The credit Card Company will Chargeback Paypal, who WILL take the money from the sellers Paypal Account. This could put the sellers Paypal Account in the negative and they will be expected in add funds to it.

I've heard about this before. They pay via Paypal, you send them the phone via some non-trackable method and they claim they've never received it and claim the money back from Paypal.
    AVOID!
