Dodgy dealer

So in the casino, a guy has 5 ponys down and a king and jack. The guy before him stuck on 16 but the dealer thought he said turn. So dealer turns over an ace and the guy said I said stick, so he said sorry and took the card back.

Now it's the guy with the king and the jack and he doubles up because he knows the next card is an ace giving him 21.

30 minutes later I see him at the bar and ask if he had finished his shift. He said no the casino released him because he didn't put the ace back in the shuffle pile.

Ah harsh or what lol

Not really harsh, they know the rules and should stick to them.

The dealer should have known better as surely he will have been trained that if something like that happens then the card should be burnt as can't be kept in the same place in the deck as gives other players an advantage

Should sack loads more, it's a regular occurence where they under pay, punters get shafted if they don't have their wits about them.

For one mistake it's harsh but could look at it the other side and would the casino be willing to rely on the dealer in future as could cost them a fortune in mistakes and might not have been the first time as casinos want the dealers 100% on the ball at all times as lots of money changes hands

On previous trips to Vegas a few dealers made mistakes in my favour like paying me out on losing hands and leaving chips on the table when I lost a hand, luckily they didn't get found out but with us gambling quite a lot in our hotel we tipped the sound dealers ok when we were winning

Yeah I know what your saying on a Saturday night I usually go there and actually do just trust the dealer,I never care to count my chips.

All tips must go in a deposit box on the counter at mine, not allowed to tip the dealer. I have been overpaid once or twice but only by £10 or so.

Even I would've put the ace in the shuffle pile and i've never played like a proper card game.

Thing is with a casino, had it been a high roller betting thousands on that hand. Then its a lot of money. maybe not to a casino but still a considerable sum.

Is this not even the most basic rule? I knew that at about 9 years of age

the guy on 16 should've been grateful for the ace

Not unless he knew the fella next to him, hence why the card needed removing from play.

hmm, you only spoke to the guy once and he doesn't know you - could have been the last in a long line of mistakes for all you know.
