Does anyone have British Gas remote control heating?

I have, and I can't decide if its not working properly or if it is just rubbish.

Is it supposed to go off AT the target temperature or somewhere around it? Mine seems to go on and off when it pleases and regularly stays on until it is 0.5 degrees or more past the target. Doesn't sound much but sometimes that can take two hours.

I have had the engineer out twice and he just says no one in my area is qualified to support this system. So I phoned the British Gas "Geek Squad" and they say call an engineer...

If anyone else could advise how theirs works I would be very grateful.

what is it?

is it one where you can control your boiler to turn on when you are in the office for example?

Yes thats the one - can control it from your pc or phone, so they say (_;)

Its your wireless room thermostat thats the problem.

thermostat shouldn't be imstant on/off or it would be switching on/off with small fluctuations.
wont it be
switch on at target-1C
switch off at target+1C
(or similar)
if the problem is that its always on+0.5 too high then lower it by that

Thank you for the answers. I have turned the target down a bit now to see if that helps, although today it was going off when it was 3 degrees under

I have just received an email from British Gas (finally!) which says the tolerance on the thermostat is set at + or - 5 degrees from the target, which seems to me to make it pretty pointless having the thing!

obviously something wrong if it only goes up to target+0.5c before switching off unless there is maybe a timing involvement also?
same for going off at -3c, i dont think it shoud ever turn off at below the target
tolerence is to stop constant flickering of on and off and doors opening etc 5c is surely too big and sounds like your behaviour isn't that

I agree - It doesn't seem right to me.
BG have now sent me a page of instructions to program the thermostat directly and reduce the 5 degree allowance, but quite honestly it's a complete pain and I wish I had kept my 20 year old thermostat instead!

I also asked them about the light on the router where the hub is plugged in as it stays red when all the other router lights are green, and BG say there are no lights on the hub (which is not what I asked them).

Sounds like a setting on the stat needs changing to me. I,d ring their tech guys if I was you......

Sorry to read that you've been experiencing issues with your Remote Heating Control Kit.

My name is Steven Berry and I work for British Gas Connected Homes and would like to help you resolve the issues you've been experiencing.

From reading your post it does sound like some settings need to be configured on the Smart Linked Thermostat and I can arrange for one of our specialist technical team to give you a call to discuss how best to resolve and fix the settings. If you send me your details via email, rhcfeedback@britishgas.co.uk, I can get them to call you at a time convenient to you alternatively you can call them at your convenience, 0800 980 8614 Option 2.

I’m confident we can have your kit working as it should.
