Does anyone in the Portsmouth area have any unwanted motorcycle clothing?

I'm riding up to London on Friday and haven't really used my bike since the temperature has dropped. Is there anyone given up their bike for the winter (or at all) that can lend me/ sell me a jacket and/or trousers.

Anything considered! I'm in Southsea but anywhere in a 10ish mile radius would be awesome

    Many thanks!

    34 waist

Another option is to send but I'd like to avoid this due to the weight!

I've reported the thread and asked them to move it to the correct section - FS/FT

You need to give people an idea of sizes required. Might also be worth looking at J&S in Waterlooville. They normally have some cracking deals on at this time of year;-)

Sorry should have looked at your post more closely, sizes on there. All my stuff is way to large and I am a little too far away.

You are now eligible for the official Harlzter seal of insanity for having the guts to go out on a bike in this weather!!! Respect and rep mate!!

You could try wearing lots of thin layers underneath a waterproof jacket/trousers. Biggest problem is your hands....even with heated grips this type of weather will soon freeze your hands. Take a flask with tomato soup........

have you tried your local freecycle

Thanks! I really don't fancy the alternative. 45 min walk to the station, then tube to Stratford, then 30 min walk the other end. It's a two hour ride... cold but much quicker - and cheaper!

Will do. Popped into Hein Gericke at lunch - have some really good offers in there but trying to get the cost down a little!

To eBay? I thought I'd try here first as I figured there wouldn't be many people out on bikes at the moment!

What should I do? Make a for sale listing and put the info in the description?

Trust me J&S are much cheaper. Quite often do deals, where you buy the jacket & get the trousers & gloves free. Heing Gericke stuff is nice, but quite expensive.

Lidl, Aldi and Netto tend to do motorbike gear in March/April and some of their stuff is fantastic value. For instance, lined jacket & trousers for £70. If you can get by until the Spring, I'd wait until then and check these out.

Not far off! Actually I used to have a C90! It's a Gilera Coguar 125 (Honda engine)

Really want to do DAS before March... HUKD keeps me poor... :whistling:

Not really going to give any crash protection though...personally I think motorbike clothing is the last thing to skimp on, I paid more than I'd budgetted for but it's good all weather gear with good protection. Having tried the latter out I was very glad of it as I walked away with nothing more than a friction burn with the armour taking the brunt of it.

As for riding in this weather, I'm trying to get my direct access test done but it's something of a challenge. Test this week has already been cancelled and DVLA's communications are useless as ever.

The Lidl/Netto/Aldi stuff isn't too bad. Its not going to give you the same protection as a £150 jacket but armour meets CE standard. Last year the Aldi clothing had better armour than the Lidl stuff (which lacked spine protector) but the Lidl material was thicker. More importantly the Aldi clothing fitted me better and all the armour was where it was supposed to be.

If its a choice of having no protective gear or buying this - then buy this.

Lidl/Aldi/Netto gear isn't bad, just don't scrimp on a crash helmet.
I got caught out by the other evil money draining website last night, Ebay. Despite having a chronic back problem, I bought an Aprilia Habana 125 to go with my three other bikes:whistling:
