    :?

Anyway, I stumbled across an HGV forum the other day, and there was a certain ex-HUKD member there saying he'd just trained, and since he was so helpful when he was here maybe he'll give you an idea. I'll PM you a link if I can find it again

you have to have a medical with your gp too. Our dr charges about £100 just for that

    Hi esims84,

I took my HGV class2 lessons/test back in January.
Nowadays you cannot take a class1 test/lessons without having previously passed the
class2 first.. More expense I'm afraid...

As previously posted you will need to take a medical before applying for a provisional
HGV licence. My training school had a list of doctors they use. £15 to £85...
Once you have your provisional licence you then take a theory/hazard perception test.
The cost of this was £32 but it's sure to have gone up..If you fail you pay again...

When you have the pass certificate you are ready to start training..
I was given a free driving assesment and they concluded that I needed 5days training
with the test on Saturday. A days training was 4hrs one to one driving..No shared driving
lessons with another trainee. Not a lot of time I thought at first, but believe me when
you've been driving/concentrating for 4hrs you've had enough... If you fail you can have
extra lessons or just take a retest..(costs more on a Saturday)
With the test fee think the cost was about £1100 inc vat..

One tip I would give Is once you have passed your test try to get either a Hi-ab or Moffett
Licence to go with it as these do pay a higher rate than generalHGV driving..

Good luck in your chosen career if you take it..

    Regards

Yeah I do. Any questions PM me and I will be glad to answer them.

    Provisional licence about £40

Lessons to drive class 2 including test about £900, the same for class 1. But there are a few pitfalls you need to look out for

I know this is not the answer you want but with the ever increasing cost of fuel it may be more cost effective to take on a qualification in another area.
Whatever the cost of the HGV qualification there will be ongoing costs to factor in as well

Join the TA (a Transport Regiment) for a little bit commitment they'll give you one for free. I got my Bike, Car, HGV 1+2 plus PCV from the army, in fact they paid me to do the courses. I was a full time regular before anyone gives me grief about wasting the MOD's/Governments money ( I done 8 years total)

So the actual cost from star to finish turned out to be?

Do you want the price from 8 years ago?.

The addition of sums in post #11 plus another £200 because this thread is 8 years old ?

It doesn't matter. The price will have gone up after 8.5 years.

Man I was too slow tonight X)
