oh thanks-but she cant even use the open-closed button-she has to get on her knees and it hurts-ive put stickers on them too-great BIG ones. We will have to lift it higher over the TV if we cant get a kids type dvd.
I have a CD player for kids and a camera-just thought you would be able to get a dvd player..

Awww poor lady! Must be horrible for her. My dad is pretty much the same, used to ring me every time he wanted to change channel or put teletext on!

I've looked in the obvious places like Woolies and Toys R Us but they only have child players and tv's that are themed ie. Pirates Of The Caribbean & Barbie. And even these seem to have "normal" remotes.

I just thought those big button ones I mentioned above may be useful to her but I didn't think that they wouldn't have an open/close button on them.

I'll keep looking and if I find something I'll PM you.

thanks!!! i know sony etc did kids alternatives years ago and thats what she needs

    It's a shame this: *********.co.uk/ws/…854 (ebay) isn't available as a DVD remote.

I'm not sure that there are any *really* simple DVD remotes out there. I think even the simplest will have skip / chapter forward / etc buttons. I'd say keep trying to teach her, but it sounds like it's time to call that a day.

Good luck if you do find anything - perhaps having the DVD player on top of the TV (if its a big CRT) may be a solution.

read this on another site, If you can move it higher up for her to open it to put a disk in then what you should do is burn her films onto another disc, removing the menus so that when she pops it in it just AUTOPLAYS, saving her having to go through choosing languages, bonus menus etc.

    ^This

DVD-Shrink her stuff, or even better grab XviD's and burn them straight to DVDs without menus so they'll autoplay (WinAVI video converter = fastest, no-menus, no nonsense for this very purpose - PM me if you need). Damn good suggestion right there, shame on me for not suggesting it in my other post.

TGB thanks so much-will look into that-can i get them to autorun with subtitles or not?

I think tho maybe the big button remote with colour buttons Churchy found and move the DVD player higher first. When i have more time we may then try shrinking her stuff-im sure my bro can do it for her. The dvd is also a vhs which confuses her more so i think ill swap that with ours as we have seperates.
Thanks tho all of you-and think of us if you see anything good!
Am als ging to go to the disabilty aid shop nearby (council run) to see if they have stuff-its v cheap!
