I suffered from this last year. The doctor suggested trying anti-inflammatories e.g. ibuprofen. they didn't work so i was referred to an occupational therapist. They strapped it up to give it some rest and it did stop hurting. However, as soon as the strapping was taken off and I used the elbow, it started hurting again. Eventually I had a steroid injection which cleared it up - although my doctor did tell me that not all doctors will refer for the injection. HTH

    Big time.
I do a lot of swimming and weights so constantly in pain with it.
Doctor told me to simply stop exercising. Helpful!

Was also told heavy duty straps do more damage (not sure if that's true or not).

Had a sports massage a few months back and that really helped though.

thanks for replies, I have it in both arms and I rely on these to do my job, being a double glazing installer I need my health and fitness lol

I had physiotherapy and a compression strap and did theraband exercises.
Took about 4 months to get fixed.
    Good information here

My doctor diagnosed tennis elbow last week and referred me to the physiotherapist. I saw him yesterday and he said it's not tennis elbow as it is a different tendon involved, but is a similar thing. Mine is on the inside of the elbow not the outside, and strapping it doesn't help as it has to be so tight before it helps it cuts off the circulation to my arm. I have to go back in the new year, when I can either have the steroid injection or acupuncture for the pain.

I also asked him about the the really bad pains I have been having in my knees lately - he said it is because I have been wearing Uggs too much

Hi, I have had this really badly in the past, it is an rsi- repetitive strain injury, The dr eventually offered me steroid injections, a max of 3, unfortunately they didn't work, I saw a physio which heped the pain but alsi had a course of acupuncture which certainly helped. I also bought a support from the sports shop for tennis elbow to wear when I needed to use my arm which helped.
It can be extremely painful and last for months, the consultant at the hosp suggested surgery but the success rate is not great so decided against it.

I had physio on mine, hurt to get rid of it, but well worth it

This is golfers elbow, my doctor diagnosed me with it a couple of weeks ago. Sometimes my elbow is in agony - especially when doing things like cutting cheese (or any other foodstuff that is not soft!!) or brushing my teeth!! Tennis elbow is pain on the outside of the elbow and golfers elbow is on the inside.
I've been taking ibuprofen (anti-inflammatories) three times a day for the past couple of weeks and it's made no difference. Doc said may have to have steroid injection to sort it. Ouch!!!
