its not silly - think its the same to all offshore islands apart from Southern Ireland. Isle of Man, Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Sark, Herm, Hebredes, Skye, N Ireland etc are all UK postal rates.
if it has a UK post code then it's a standard UK rate - that's what the post office told me once

Usually goes via submarine from Portsmouth
got a parcel to send to isle of wight, but cannot use RM as its too heavy/pricey (£20+)

12kilo 65x29x25cm generic isle wight postcode: PO30 1UP

ATM I can use myhermes £8.39 but only £20 insurance and no sig unless I pay £2 more for both
