is there any way of stopping the dogs jumping up on the kitchen cupboards? if he not taking food its plastic bags or packets of things, it really annoys me, if there nothing to take he still jumps on there as i can see he paw print all over everything, i never catch him doing it so telling him no doesnt work, he jumped on my cooker the other day and ate the sausages i was frying, supprised he didnt burn himself

Put it in a kennel in the garden where its supposed to be.

can you not lock him out the kitchen........?

animals are atrracted to the food scents, try keeping a water bottle spray near the counter and spray him when he jumps up, worked with my cats.......they know they're not allowed and wait patiently til I prepare their food and are not bothered by cooking scents

i tend to have them in the kitchen after they have been in the garden so i dont get mud all over the carpets, after the whole sausage thing i tend to lock them out the kitchen while im cooking, but when im done they'll still jump up to have a nosey, ive tried the water in a spray bottle but ozzie likes it so i got told to put some lemon into it aswell but he also likes that, ive tried putting foil around the kitchen sides but he takes it and eats it, i got told they didnt like it

Your gonna have to show them who is the dominant one in the relationship....

a well trained dog wont do it...takes time and will be tough if your not like that but you have to show them your the boss

You need to train him to not jump up onto the kitchen cupboards etc. Best way to do this is when you see him doing it to either spray him with water from an old washing up liquid bottle or put some stones in an empty small water bottle and rattle it when you see him jumping up and shout NO - this should do the trick,

    bleach?

you're going to have to be more authoritative then with your voice commands

have them in a kitchen when you're preparing something, make them sit, treat them with dog titbits when they listen.....keep the titbits in a low cupboard, under the kitchen sink or something, they recognise that their treats are kept low......

if that doesnt work doggie school

Along these lines. The timing is really crucial - what's needed is a negative response from you when he is in the very act of doing the mischief. A very sharp 'eh' - high pitched but short is very effective and fast as you don't need to get bottle/spray. 'No' will do as well although you may already be using that for a family member!!! Treat as choc says with a command for good behaviour.
    Good luck.

u will have to be careful when u have the baby as he may snatch food from him/her

oh no, does that mean my mum didnt take my alsation to the farm then, she also told me we could go and visit him but we never did

try sneekily watching from the door so that you can try to catch him in the act. Then you can use the voice commands. or try putting him up there and shouting the no command and scaring him.

Otherwise the motion sensor thing seems a good idea!
