    Dont know if I need advice really but not sure...

    ...my son has just come home with a flick knife that he found near the park. He picked it up because he didnt want it in the wrong hands, should I just bin it or police station?

    report to police - it could have been used in an assault and dumped..
    could be evidence etc.. so report it

    take it to the police station, it could still end up in the wrong hands if you bin it

    Police and keep your fingers off it, but don't wipe it

    just bin it waste of time going to the police

    stick it in a plastic bag and hand it in to the police. they won't actually do anything about it, unless there has been a crime or something, it could be quite important.

    Thanks guys, was leaning towards the police station side of it

    On the more serious note it's ilegal to keep! so take it to the old bill.

    Second thoughts give them a ring first or face being arrested

    # Outside of an amnesty your circumstances would dictate how the police would receive you. However, whatever the reason you're in possession of an offensive weapon, police advice is to contact your local station to make arrangements for handing it in;
    # If you've simply come across a gun or a flick knife in public, police advice is not to touch it, but report the find by phone or in person at the local station.

    Job done, handed it in and they said they would test for blood (I thought it might be rust even though it looked pretty new/shiny) If not blood they,ll bin it. Either way least its not out there in the wrong hands.

    He,s 15 and is lovely, I always get stopped by people in shops and stuff saying they had seen my son and how polite he is etc, however I dont think he'd last 5 minutes in the big bad world, he's not streetwise and probably too niave and I worry every day that Im going to hear something bad has happened because he's been picked on.
