    Here's the deal.

It all started a couple of months ago, when 2 weeks after the 5 year warranty ran out on the dishwasher, it broke beyond repair.

Then this week my 3 year old boiler system broke, 2 weeks after the yearly service was due, and just 11 months after the warranty run out. My 15 year old television broke (OK fair enough!)

Last night a lamp wouldn't turn on as the 6th (this week) :w00t: lightbulb (energy efficient) blew. I remarked to my missus 'bet the warranty has just ran out on it!!'

Every time something breaks in our house we always check that whether its nearing its warranty end.

My neighbour is so sure that manufacturers 'program' their goods to go wrong just after the warranty runs out. He is booking his 2 and a half year old car in for a dealer service 2 weeks before the 3 year parts and labour warranty ends.

The light in our oven has just blown and we couldnt get the cover off because its plastic and had melted slightly causing it to become stuck (have you ever heard of something so ridiculous! Plastic in an oven!) so had to get an engineer out at £58 charge and then £4 for the lightbulb! Then the buttons for the clock have stopped working (about 2 days later) and if the clock stops working or the electricity goes off briefly we will not be able to use the oven at all because they are linked

We sent off the extended warranty but the company are saying they didnt receive it, and the normal warranty ran out last month!

I've had a terrible run of luck since moving into my own flat and being broke most of the time. I always look after things, yet in the last few months my PS2, amplifier and subwoofer have all broken :-( I can't afford to get my subwoofer fixed so I wrote an email to KEF begging them. I honestly can't believe how many lightbulbs keep blowing either.

Tis called "The Law of Sod"

    Its called sods law!!!

Although you could be covered under the sale of goods act which states that an item must work for a reasonable length of time (I beleive this could be up to 6 years)

As for your lamp - it sounds like it has a fault anyway if it is blowing lamps - especially if the are energy efficient!! i would take it back regardless (it probably came from my work)

You still have the same rights - when buying an ex display I am certain of it - its just been out on display out of its packaging, that shouldn't make the product inferior to its packaged friends!!

Trying to win a case on the 6 year sale of goods act, is near impossible. The company can get over any challenges by saying that the goods were not being used correctly, or for the use they were designed for, or for the reasonable amount of times per day.

Oh dont start me on the electricity issue :w00t:

We have a RCD circuit on our property (its a new thingie), however that means that the electricity supply to the Dyson washing machine trips ass the RCD get overloaded. We had to have a special circuit and board fitted just for the Dyson!!!
